NBA Game Summary - Golden State at San Antonio

(Wednesday, April 2nd)

Final Score: San Antonio 111, Golden State 90

San Antonio, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Chalk up another win for the Spurs and another loss for the Warriors in the Alamo City.

Tony Parker scored 18 points as one of six San Antonio players to score in double figures and the Spurs pounded Golden State, 111-90, Wednesday night.

The 19 straight wins for the Spurs is well short of last season's 27-game run for the Heat and the Lakers' record of 33 in a row during the 1971-72 campaign. The Spurs broke the franchise mark with their 18th consecutive win following a 103-77 rout over the reeling Indiana Pacers on Monday night.

San Antonio's latest victory came on the front part of a tough back-to-back set. The Spurs will play on the road at Oklahoma City on Thursday. The Thunder, led by Kevin Durant's 38 straight games of at least 25 points, sit four games behind the Western Conference-leading Spurs.

Tim Duncan registered 15 points and eight rebounds, and Patty Mills and Manu Ginobili each scored 13 for the Spurs. Marco Belinelli had 12 and Kawhi Leonard 11 for San Antonio, which clinched the Southwest Division title Wednesday night.

"We've come along," said Duncan. "We've always used these regular-season 82 games to turn our team into the kind of team we want it to be. We've done just that, added some pieces, but incorporated them really well and our system's working."

Marreese Speights scored 22 and had nine boards for the Warriors, who haven't won at San Antonio since Feb. 14 1997. Golden State has dropped 31 consecutive regular season road games against the Spurs.

San Antonio also swept the Warriors in four games this season. It marked the fifth whitewash in the last six campaigns in this series in favor of the Spurs.

Stephen Curry was limited to 11 points on 5-of-15 shooting. He also had 10 assists for the visitors.

"They're a great basketball team," said Warriors coach Mark Jackson. "(They're) the best team in basketball right now for a reason. ... I give them a lot of credit."

The Warriors, who are entrenched in the sixth spot in the Western Conference playoff race, fell behind early and never recovered. Duncan scored 12 on 6- of-7 shooting in the opening quarter, after which the Spurs held a 31-18 lead. Included in the period was a 14-2 run by the hosts. Leonard had consecutive steals, which led to San Antonio baskets the capped the burst for a 16-6 advantage.

Golden State got within nine a couple of times in the second, but the Spurs scored the final seven of the stanza to create a 57-42 spread at the half.

The visitors whittled the deficit to seven with 4 1/2 minutes remaining in the third, but San Antonio scored the final 13 points of the quarter for an 87-67 cushion moving to the fourth. The Spurs were comfortably ahead the rest of the game.

Game Notes

The NBA said Wednesday Curry's game-winning shot for Golden State in overtime Tuesday night against Dallas should have been a game-tying shot. The NBA said the play that led to Curry's step-back jumper with 0.1 seconds left -- Jermaine O'Neal's block on Monta Ellis -- was goaltending. Golden State won the game, 122-120 ... The Spurs are 59-17 all-time at home against the Warriors ... David Lee missed his fourth straight game with a strained hamstring and Andrew Bogut sat out his third consecutive tilt with a bruised groin/pelvis for the Warriors ... Jordan Crawford scored 16 and Klay Thompson had 15 for Golden State.
