NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Wednesday, January 22nd (All times Eastern)

Atlanta Hawks (21-19) at Orlando Magic (11-31), 7 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Hawks snapped a two-game losing streak in style last time out and will try to build momentum when they visit Southwest Division rival, the Orlando Magic Wednesday night.

The Hawks steam-rolled the two-time defending NBA champion Miami Heat on Monday night at Philips Arena. The 121 points marked the third-highest total of the season for the Hawks.

Paul Millsap had 26 points as the Hawks, back from their losing London trip, snapped a nine-game losing streak against the Heat, which dated back to Jan. 2, 2012.

DeMarre Carroll added 19 points, Pero Antic scored 17 and Kyle Korver hit a key 3-pointer down the stretch for the Hawks, who won for only the third time in their last eight. Korver finished with 12 and now has a made 3-pointer in an NBA record 109 straight games.

They snapped a seven-game home losing streak against the Heat despite getting just two points from Jeff Teague, who averages more than 16. Teague checked out for the last time with 5:46 remaining in the third quarter and was 1-for-7 from the field.

Atlanta had 33 assists on 42 field goals.

"I'm just happy with the competitiveness of our group, competing defensively and playing unselfishly," said Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer. "Thirty-three assists is a real positive for our group."

Three other Hawks scored in double figures and Atlanta plays three of its next four on the road.

The Magic snapped a 10-game losing streak with a late-game victory over the Boston Celtics on Sunday.

They started a new losing streak with a 101-90 setback Monday in Brooklyn against the Nets.

The game changed when the teams came out of the locker room at halftime. Brooklyn outscored Orlando, 27-14, in the third quarter to keep the Magic at arm's reach.

"We got stagnant in the third," said Magic coach Jacque Vaughan. "They're long and athletic and they made it tough for us."

Kyle O'Quinn paced the Magic with 15 points off the bench and E'Twaun Moore tallied 13 points as a reserve in Orlando's 11th loss in its last 12 games. Arron Afflalo added 11 points, while Glen Davis and Victor Oladipo each scored 10 points in defeat.

Orlando has won two of three meetings with Atlanta this season, including a seven-point win in Orlando on Dec. 29. The Magic's victory on Nov. 26 halted an 11-game regular-season losing streak to the Hawks.
