NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Wednesday, November 13th (All times Eastern)

Toronto Raptors (3-5) at Memphis Grizzlies (3-4), 8 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Memphis Grizzlies hope to continue their recent dominance of the Toronto Raptors when the two clubs clash Wednesday.

The Grizzlies have won two straight, eight of nine and 16 of the past 21 matchups between the teams. Toronto has dropped four of five and 11 of the past 16 trips to FedExForum.

Memphis fell victim to the Indiana Pacers in Monday's 95-79 loss. Marc Gasol paced the Grizzlies, which has alternated losses and wins in each of their first seven outings, with 15 points. Zach Randolph finished with 12 in the setback.

"They're the best defensive team in this league, they really compress the paint, it was hard for any of us guards to get in there and make anything happen," Grizzlies guard Mike Conley said. "They've got a lot of length, they've got great guards that play great `D' and they made us take contested shots."

The Raptors have lost four of five games and are coming off Monday's 110-104 double overtime loss at Houston.

Rudy Gay put up 29 points and 10 rebounds for the Raptors before fouling out in the final stages. DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry had 22 and 16 points, respectively, in the loss, with Jonas Valanciunas notching a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds.

"We fought with them obviously through two overtimes and shots that we usually hit, weren't falling, you could say fatigue or a lot of different things but they are a great team and they played well," Gay said. "I just wish I would've hit the easy ones (shots) and maybe things would've worked out differently."

Toronto has lost three in a row on the road.

Wednesday's game will mark the return to Memphis for Gay. He was traded by the Grizzlies to the Raptors before the deadline last season and Wednesday is the first time Gay will be back in the city where he spent his first six-plus seasons.

"We got in last night; went to my house, slept in my bed for the first time in a while. It felt good to be back," Gay said on Wednesday.
