NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Saturday, December 7th (All times Eastern)

Los Angeles Clippers (13-7) at Cleveland Cavaliers (6-13), 7:30 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Clippers got themselves back into the win column and look to remain there when they continue a seven-game road trip Saturday against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena.

The Clippers, who are in the midst of the first of two seven-game road trips this season, opened a 13-day journey with Wednesday's 107-97 loss in Atlanta and rebounded with a 101-81 triumph in Memphis the following night.

Chris Paul finished with 15 points and eight assists, Jamal Crawford and Darren Collison added 15 points apiece off the bench and DeAndre Jordan posted 10 points and 14 rebounds for the Clippers, who ended a two-game slide and prevailed for the 10th time in the last 14 tries.

"We were getting frustrated (in the first half)," said Clippers head coach Doc Rivers, who notched the 600th win of his career. "When we started making shots, the game broke our way."

Rivers became the 23rd coach all-time to win that many games, joining Gregg Popovich and Rick Adelman as the only active head coaches with at least 600 victories.

The Pacific Division-leading Clippers will also visit Philadelphia, Boston, Brooklyn and Washington on the trek and have a 5-5 record as the guest. They have a lengthy seven-game sojourn scheduled from Jan. 17-27.

Cleveland saw a two-game winning streak fall by the wayside Friday night when they got clobbered by the Atlanta Hawks, 108-89 in Atlanta.

The Hawks jumped on the Cavs early, taking the first quarter, 37-20.

"This is on all of us. It's on me," said Cavs head coach Mike Brown. "I have to do a better job getting us prepared for the game both mentally and physically. It's on everybody in that locker room. We have to come out and compete for 48 minutes."

Kyrie Irving, an All-Star last season, was held scoreless for the first time in his NBA career. He went 0-for-9 from the field in 20:28 of action.

"Shots are just not falling," said Irving. "I'm not shooting the best this year, but I'm getting the shots that I want. That's all you can ask for. I play off instincts. Sometimes I'm out there thinking too much. You just have to play basketball. That's what it boils down to."

Dion Waiters had a big game with 30 points on 13-for-20 shooting against the Hawks. Andrew Bynum also played well with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Jarrett Jack scored 12 off the bench and Tristan Thompson grabbed 11 boards.

The Cavs and Clippers will play twice this season and are slated to tangle on March 16 at Staples Center. They split a pair of matchups a season ago and Cleveland has a dominating 13-3 record in the past 16 encounters with L.A., which ended a 10-game slide as the visitor with a 105-89 win on March 1.
