NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Wednesday, November 6th (All times Eastern)

Cleveland Cavaliers (2-2) at Milwaukee Bucks (1-2), 8 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Cleveland Cavaliers are still searching for their first win on the road and will play four of their next five games away from home, starting with Wednesday's contest against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Cavaliers are 0-2 as the visitor and ended a two-game slide with Monday's 93-92 victory over the previously unbeaten Minnesota Timberwolves. They had a 72-49 lead midway through the third quarter, but the T'Wolves were able to trim the deficit to one on Kevin Love's inside bucket with 38.9 seconds left.

Minnesota, which posted a 31-17 advantage in the fourth quarter, had a chance to complete the comeback when Cleveland's Kyrie Irving misfired on the ensuing possession, but Love's 3-point try just prior to the buzzer fell off the mark.

C.J. Miles scored 12 of his team-high 19 points in the second quarter and Tristan Thompson ended with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Irving posted 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists for the Cavs, who recorded 12 blocks on the evening and got 10 points, four boards and three blocks from Andrew Bynum.

Cleveland, which is holding opponents to 91.3 ppg (2nd in NBA), also had 10 steals and its reserves are averaging 35.3 ppg. Miles leads the crew with 14.8 ppg.

"Getting wide-open looks, I feel like I'm supposed to knock down all of those," said Miles. "And then you get a couple of easy ones and everything else feels like a rhythm after that."

Cavaliers rookie Anthony Bennett, the No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft, went 0-for-3 from the field and has yet to make a field goal in 15 attempts to start his career.

Milwaukee is well rested and will resume its three-game homestand Wednesday. It opened the residency with Saturday's 97-90 home-opening loss to the Toronto Raptors, as rookie Nate Wolters made his first start and finished with seven points and 10 assists.

O.J. Mayo came off the bench to lead Milwaukee in scoring with 16 points and Ersan Ilyasova added 14 points in defeat. John Henson scored 13 in a reserve role and Caron Butler netted 12 for the Bucks, who trailed by a 77-65 score in the fourth quarter and later tied the game at 85 apiece. The Raptors, though, were able to fend off the pesky Bucks and had a 60-38 rebounding edge.

"I really felt if we just hung around hopefully we could probably try to steal it, but we just didn't make the plays down the stretch," Bucks head coach Larry Drew said.

The Bucks, who rallied from 22 points down to upend Boston last Friday, had won eight in a row at home and 10 straight overall versus Toronto. They will close out the homestand Saturday versus the Dallas Mavericks.

In injury news for Milwaukee, Ilyasova (ankle) and shot-blocking phenom Larry Sanders (thumb) are questionable versus the Cavs.

Milwaukee and Cleveland split four meetings last season, while the Bucks have won 10 of the previous 14 encounters with their Central rivals. Irving has scored at least 26 points in five of six career games in this series, averaging 26.7 ppg in that time.

Cleveland assistant coach Jim Boylan was the Bucks' interim head coach for the last 50 games of the 2012-13 season and went 22-28.
