Cavs, Celtics clash at the Q

(SportsNetwork.com) - Two lottery-bound Eastern Conference teams jump it up Saturday night when the Boston Celtics visit Quicken Loans Arena to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Celtics snapped a nine-game slide Friday night with a 106-103 home victory over the Charlotte Bobcats.

Avery Bradley had 22 points, Jared Sullinger added 20 points and seven rebounds and Phil Pressey tallied 10 points and 13 assists. Brandon Bass and Jeff Green netted 18 points apiece for Boston, which snapped a three-game home losing streak.

Rookie Kelly Olynyk chipped in 12 off the bench for the Celtics, who shot 52 percent from the field and 47.8 percent from long range.

"All of us are disappointed in our overall record, and all of us are certainly aware of [tanking] talk, but that's not our task. Our task is to play as hard, coach as hard, and do right by the game," Boston head coach Brad Stevens said.

Boston has dropped 13 in a row on the road and will play in Philadelphia on Monday. The Celtics shut the door on this disastrous, albeit rebuilding, season Wednesday night with a home game against the Washington Wizards.

The Cavs dropped their third in the last four on Friday night with an ugly road loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, the team with the worst record in the league.

Cleveland fell, 119-116, to finish 14-27 on the road this season.

Dion Waiters had 23 points and Jarrett Jack scored 21 off the bench for the Cavaliers. Tristan Thompson registered a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Spencer Hawes netted 15 points in the loss, followed by 12 from Kyrie Irving and 11 out of Tyler Zeller.

"They kind of got what they wanted to offensively all night," Cavs coach Mike Brown said. "Whether it was the pick-and-roll, the isolations and the transitions, we paid the price for it by giving up 119 points on 52 percent from the field."

Cleveland let the Bucks shoot 52.4 percent from the floor.

The Cavaliers finish the regular season at the Q versus the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.

The Celtics have won both of this season's matchups, although both were in Boston. The C's have also taken four of their last five at Quicken Loans Arena.
