NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Saturday, March 1st (All times Eastern)

New Orleans Pelicans (23-35) at Los Angeles Clippers (40-20), 10:30 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Clippers have won three straight and will try to keep the momentum going Saturday night when they welcome the New Orleans Pelicans to Staples Center.

The Clips have taken four of five at home and will hit the road after Saturday's tilt to visit the Phoenix Suns and "visit" the Lakers, which, of course, will take place at the Staples Center.

On Wednesday, Blake Griffin poured in 23 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to lead the Clippers to a 101-93 home win over the Houston Rockets.

Darren Collison added 19 points off the bench and DeAndre Jordan scored 13 points to go with 10 boards and four blocks for the Clippers. Chris Paul scored 14 points and handed out nine assists in the win.

"Tonight we got stops when we needed to. It starts with defense," Griffin said.

Newly-signed Glen Davis managed two points in his Clippers debut.

Clippers guard Jamal Crawford, who is starting in place of injured J.J. Redick, suffered a left calf strain in the first half against Houston and did not return. He did not suffer structural damage, but could miss a few games.

Danny Granger signed with the Clippers after getting bought out by the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday. Granger was traded from the Indiana Pacers to the Sixers at the deadline, but elected to try and play for a contender. It is unknown if he will be in uniform Saturday.

The Pelicans have dropped six straight overall and four in a row as the visitor.

On Friday, the Pelicans allowed a career-high 40 points from Goran Dragic in a 116-104 road loss to the Phoenix Suns.

Anthony Davis, who left New Orleans' last game with a sprained left shoulder, tied a career-high with 32 points to go along with nine rebounds, and Eric Gordon tallied 21 points in the setback. Tyreke Evans added 14.

"We just couldn't get the stops," New Orleans head coach Monty Williams admitted. "We just couldn't get the ball. Dragic was in our paint all night long."

While Davis' injury news was positive, it didn't turn out that way for Jrue Holiday. Prior to the game, New Orleans announced that Holiday, who was acquired in the offseason in a trade for Nerlens Noel and a top-five protected first-round pick, will have surgery on the stress fracture in his right leg, ending his season

The Clippers have won five straight against the Pelicans, including both of this season's meetings. LA has taken seven of eight versus New Orleans and is 5-1 in its last six as the host in this series.
