Blazers bury Mavericks for fifth straight win

Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - LaMarcus Aldridge scored 30 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a 127-111 drubbing of the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.

Nicolas Batum added 21 points and seven rebounds, Robin Lopez had 16 points and 12 boards and Damian Lillard finished with 14 points and 10 assists for the Trail Blazers, winners in five straight.

"I was really proud of the way our team played tonight, especially on the heels of an emotional win in San Antonio last night. Our resolve, defensively, I thought was very good and got us into a position to have a large lead," Portland coach Terry Stotts said.

Stotts was an assistant coach for the Mavs from 2008-2012, helping Dallas to the 2011 NBA Championship.

Dirk Nowitzki scored a team-high 18 points and Monta Ellis added 15 for the Mavericks, who lost for just the second time in six games.

Portland raced out to a 35-23 lead after 12 minutes. With 3:22 left in the frame, Lopez sparked a 16-5 run with his three-point play. Batum and Aldridge combined for the next 11 points of the flurry with six and five, respectively. Devin Harris hit a shot at the buzzer to make it a 12-point game heading into the second.

The Blazers kept their foot on the gas in the second, and Thomas Robinson made it 46-28 with his slam at the 8:42 mark. The Mavs were able to get within eight, 54-46, with 3:38 remaining in the first half, but Portland outscored Dallas 17-6 the rest of the way to go into the break with a commanding 71-52 lead.

The Blazers led 104-70 following the third quarter and their lead swelled to 38 early in the fourth en route to the blow out win.

"The first three quarters were beyond embarrassing ... Other than saying, 'beyond embarrassing,' I don't know what to say," Mavs coach Rick Carlisle said. "The guys that were in there in the fourth quarter really fought. They won the quarter 41-23, which is great. I'm going to find guys that will fight and get them in the game, simple as that."

Game Notes

The Blazers dominated inside, outscoring the Mavs 60-38 in the paint and outrebounding Dallas 55-30 ... Dallas have up a season-high 71 points in the first half ... DeJuan Blair and Jae Crowder finished with 13 points apiece off the bench for Dallas.
