NBA Game Summary - Dallas at Orlando

(Saturday, November 16th)

Final Score: Dallas 108, Orlando 100

Orlando, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Monta Ellis scored a team-high 19 points with eight assists, while Dirk Nowitzki added 18 points and the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Orlando Magic, 108-100, at Amway Center.

Dallas led 100-91 with 3:11 remaining in the game after Jose Calderon drove the near sideline and whipped it back to Nowitzki, who buried a triple from the wing to give the Mavericks enough cushion to hold off the Magic.

Arron Afflalo continued his hot shooting for Orlando, leading all scorers with 25 points going 13-of-14 from the charity stripe. Nikola Vucevic added 16 points and eight rebounds in the loss.

Calderon finished with 11 points and nine helpers while DeJuan Blair netted 18 points off the bench for Dallas, which will head home to begin a three-game homestand on Monday against the Philadelphia 76ers.

"(DeJuan) Blair's been great. He's doing a lot of good things at both ends," said Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle. "He's given us toughness, rebounding, screening. He's given us a physical presence. We had a lot of guys play well."

Dallas used a 20-6 run that spanned from the final 2:45 of the first quarter and the first four minutes of the second to take a comfortable 40-28 lead. Calderon started the spurt with a 3-pointer and six Mavericks contributed to stretch the lead to double-digits.

The Dallas lead grew to as many as 15, its largest lead of the game. in the first half after a Blair floater with 1:08 left in the second frame.

After Orlando cut the lead to 11, Nowitzki hit a jumper with 4.1 seconds left to take a 59-46 advantage at the break.

"Turnovers got us behind a little bit especially in that first half," said Magic head coach Jacque Vaughn. "We gave up 59 points and a lot of those were off our turnovers which. We talked about it and will continue to address it, we dug ourselves a little hole."

A Vucevic hook shot midway through the fourth trimmed the Mavericks lead to 91-87, the Magic's lowest deficit since the first quarter, but that is as close as Orlando would get.

The Magic wilted down the stretch, making only three field goals and committing three turnovers following the Nowitzki triple.

Orlando rookie Victor Oladipo scored 10 points, all in the second half, with six assists, but committed nine turnovers.
