NBA Game Summary - LA Clippers at LA Lakers

(Thursday, March 6th)

Final Score: LA Clippers 142, LA Lakers 94

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Paul looked at DeAndre Jordan to his right and threw a no-look, right-handed scoop-toss alley-oop to Blake Griffin to his left.

Griffin reached all the way back to retrieve the pass in the air before throwing down a forceful one-handed slam to finish the 3-on-1 fast break.

The Clippers were sure off and running against their Staples Center co-tenants on Thursday night.

Griffin had 20 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, and the Clippers handed the Los Angeles Lakers their worst loss in franchise history, 142-94, on Thursday night.

"It's not about how much we win by, it's about how we execute," Griffin said.

The Clippers, who routed the Lakers 123-87 on Jan. 11, held a 29-27 edge after a quarter of play, but outscored the Lakers 80-33 over the next two frames to turn the game into a laugher.

They held a 19-0 cushion in fast-break points in the second quarter and a 34-23 edge overall for the game.

Darren Collison netted a team-high 24 points, Paul supplied 13 points and 11 assists and Matt Barnes added 17 points, 12 boards, five assists and three steals for the Clippers, who have won six straight games.

Pau Gasol tallied 21 points and seven rebounds for the Lakers, who have dropped five of their last seven tilts.

"We felt sorry for ourselves and let it get away. We did not compete the last three quarters," Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni said.

Collison netted eight points during a 23-4 Clippers run to begin the second, including a triple to cap it and extend the margin to 50-30.

The Clippers outscored the Lakers 44-13 in the second quarter to take a commanding 73-40 lead into the halftime locker room.

Griffin's alley-oop dunk highlighted the third for the Clippers, who took a 109-60 advantage into the fourth, where they led by as many as 51.

Game Notes

The Clippers held a 64-33 rebounding margin and a 16-4 advantage on the offensive glass ... The Lakers shot just 39.5 percent (34-of-86) from the floor ... Jordan had 14 points and 12 rebounds.
