NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Sunday, February 9th (All times Eastern)

Memphis Grizzlies (27-22) at Cleveland Cavaliers (17-33), 6 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Memphis Grizzlies are set to wrap up a quick road trip Sunday against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena.

The Grizzlies handed the Atlanta Hawks a 79-76 setback at Philips Arena on Saturday, as Zach Randolph led the way with 20 points and Courtney Lee added 14. Nick Calathes had 10 points for Memphis, which held on despite shooting 41.1 percent and going to the foul line just once (1-of-1).

"We watched film at halftime and coach was showing they were getting the ball where they wanted and starting their offense with 19 to 20 seconds on the clock," said Lee. "So they were pushing it up and getting up to areas we weren't. We wanted to get physical. The second half the game got physical. That's how we want to play."

Marc Gasol ended with eight points, eight rebounds and seven assists, and the Grizzlies improved to 10-3 since he returned from a knee injury. Memphis was 10-13 without the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.

The Grizzlies, winners in 14 of 19 games overall, are 14-8 away from FedExForum and have held their last eight road opponents to 90 points or less.

Cleveland got off the schneid with Friday's 115-113 victory at Washington and put an end to a six-game losing streak.

The Cavaliers were led by Kyrie Irving's 23 points and career high-tying 12 assists, while Dion Waiters scored 24 points off the bench.

"To have 12 assists (and) getting to the free throw line 13 times was a phenomenal game," Cavs coach Mike Brown said of Irving's performance. "He helped make his teammates better tonight and that was fun to see."

C.J. Miles added 18 points and Tristan Thompson recorded 10 points with eight rebounds for the Cavs, who made 51.9 percent of their shots and ended a three- game road losing streak. The Cavs had a 101-87 lead in the fourth quarter and are averaging 110.0 points per game in their last three.

Waiters leads the Cleveland reserves with 14.5 ppg, which is tops among East bench players. Irving has scored 20 or more points 10 times in the last 12 games, averaging 21.6 ppg in that stretch, while Miles is posting an average of 18.3 ppg in his past three.

Cavs forward Luol Deng (flu) is questionable Sunday and did not play against the Wizards. He had only three points on 1-of-10 shooting in Wednesday's loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Deng averaged 18.3 points and 7.7 rebounds in three games prior to facing the Lakers.

The Cavaliers, who have lost six in a row to Western Conference foes, are winless in three straight and five of six home games and own an 11-13 record at the Q this season. They will host Sacramento on Tuesday.

Memphis defeated Cleveland in both meetings last season and has won four in a row in this series. The Grizzlies have lost seven of eight and 13 of the 16 games played in Cleveland.
