Nets, Pistons clash at The Palace

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Brooklyn Nets have won two in a row and will try to carry that momentum into Friday night's road contest against the Detroit Pistons.

After a three-game losing streak, the Nets toppled the Philadelphia 76ers in Brooklyn on Monday, then knocked off an injury-ravaged San Antonio Spurs squad on Thursday night.

The Spurs were already without Kawhi Leonard and Manu Ginobili, and went into the Barclays Center without Tim Duncan (rest) and Tony Parker (back). Parker injured his back in a double-overtime victory Wednesday night in Washington.

None of that mattered to the Nets.

Alan Anderson scored 22 points to lead Brooklyn to a 103-89 win over the Spurs.

"We started attacking and stopped settling for the three. Once we start doing that, it opens up the lane for kick-outs, just penetrating and dishing, everything starts opening up," Anderson said.

Deron Williams finished with 16 points and eight assists, Paul Pierce tallied 12 points and Andray Blatche added 10 for Brooklyn, which snapped a six-game losing streak against San Antonio.

The Pistons had a two-game winning streak going until back-to-back losses, both coming in the state of Florida. Detroit begins a five-game homestand at The Palace of Auburn Hills on Friday.

Last time out, the Pistons fell 112-98 in Orlando as the Magic had five players in double figures.

The Pistons got creamed in the second quarter, losing that 12-minute stretch by 14. Detroit allowed 62 points in the second and third quarters.

"We just didn't play good basketball," Detroit's Kyle Singler said. "Turned the ball over, never really got into a rhythm. Our effort was poor."

Josh Smith led all scorers with 25 points to go with 12 rebounds, Andre Drummond registered 15 points and 14 boards and Brandon Jennings supplied 15 points and 10 assists for the Pistons.

Detroit will host the Denver Nuggets, San Antonio Spurs, Cleveland Cavaliers and Charlotte Bobcats during this residency, which will span past the All-Star break.

The Pistons have won both of this season's meetings with Brooklyn, but are 11-2 in their last 13 against the Nets in The Palace.
