NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Tuesday, November 5th (All times Eastern)

Phoenix Suns (2-1) at New Orleans Pelicans (1-2), 8 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - Coming off their first loss of the season, the Phoenix Suns try to bounce back Tuesday with another road test against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Suns were off to an impressive 2-0 start until they opened a three-game road trip with Sunday's 103-96 loss to the re-energized Oklahoma City Thunder. Russell Westbrook returned for the Thunder after injuring his knee in last season's playoffs and scored 21 points. Kevin Durant led the way with 33.

Eric Bledsoe paced the Suns with 26 points, 14 assists and seven blocks, but had a game-high eight turnovers. He'll have to limit that for Phoenix to get back on track. The Suns, who held a three-point lead entering the fourth quarter, committed 25 turnovers, leading to 25 Thunder points.

Phoenix had just 18 points in the paint to OKC's 46 points inside. The Suns had 24 fast-break points and lead the NBA in that category (26.3).

"Our guys fought hard and that's a good team and we had a chance to win on their court," Suns new head coach Jeff Hornacek said.

Gerald Green and Channing Frye netted 21 and 19 points, respectively, in a losing cause. Hornacek could be without guard Goran Dragic, who suffered a sprained ankle in the third quarter and is expected to miss Tuesday's game. He had 10 points before the setback and X-rays were negative.

Suns big man Emeka Okafor is still out with a back ailment.

New Orleans earned its first win of the season with Saturday's 105-84 triumph versus the Charlotte Bobcats, as second-year center Anthony Davis pumped in 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Davis added six blocks and four assists.

"I'm just trying to hustle and everything I need to do to help my team win," Davis said.

Tyreke Evans scored 15 points, Jrue Holiday had 14 and Brian Roberts chipped in 13 for the Pelicans, who shot 49.3 percent for the game and made 7-of-13 3- pointers.

New Orleans took two of three matchups from Phoenix last season.
