NBA Game Summary - Golden State at New York

(Friday, February 28th)

Final Score: Golden State 126, New York 103

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - It may not have been quite the performance as his last visit there, but Stephen Curry still dazzled once again in his return to Madison Square Garden.

His Golden State team did as well, routing an uninspired New York Knicks team by a 126-103 count behind Curry's triple-double accomplished over just three quarters.

Just over a year to the day when he exploded for a career-high 54 points and went 11-of-13 from 3-point range in a 109-105 road loss to the Knicks, Curry tallied 27 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists before taking a seat with the Warriors comfortably ahead at the start of the fourth.

"It is pretty special," Curry said of his triple-double. "I haven't had one since my rookie year before this year started. I am trying to impact the game in different areas."

Klay Thompson also rested the final frame after racking up 25 points, with Jermaine O'Neal adding 15 in just 20 minutes to help Golden State bounce back from Wednesday's 20-point loss in Chicago.

Carmelo Anthony amassed 23 points and 16 rebounds for the Knicks, but shot an inefficient 7-of-26 from the field in New York's fifth consecutive defeat. Tim Hardaway Jr. finished with 22 points and J.R. Smith had 17.

"We're not consistent in a lot of aspects out there," Anthony admitted. "It's showing."

The lethargic Knicks offered little resistance against Golden State's high- powered attack, as the Warriors scored with extreme ease in building a commanding 73-52 halftime lead.

Curry dropped in six points to spark a 10-0 run that put Golden State in front to stay at 15-6 just 4 1/2 minutes in. He kept hitting shots from there, erupting for 12 first-quarter points as the Warriors opened up a 38-27 advantage at period's end.

Golden State's reserves kept up the pace, with O'Neal netting seven consecutive points early in the second and putting the Warriors up 48-32 on a dunk with 9:15 left in the half. The Knicks countered with a 7-0 push, and trailed by 58-48 later on before Golden State dominated the final four minutes of the frame.

The Warriors closed out the half on a 15-4 surge to enter the break owning a 21-point cushion, with Curry going 8-of-12 from the field in a 20-point effort and Thompson chipping in 14 over the first two quarters.

Golden State was ahead by as many as 27 points in the third quarter, though New York made some mild strides by ending the session on a 10-2 spurt to pull within 99-80 entering the fourth. Hardaway accounted for the first six points of the flurry.

With their entire starting five out of the game, the Warriors maintained a lead between 16 and 25 points in the final quarter.

Game Notes

Curry notched his fourth career triple-double and third this season, also doing so at Philadelphia on Nov. 4 and Dec. 27 against Phoenix ... Golden State's 72 first-half points and 126 total were both season highs, with the latter bettering a 125-94 season-opening win over the Lakers ... The Warriors improved to 4-0 all-time against New York with ex-Knick David Lee in the lineup. He missed last year's matchup at MSG while serving a suspension ... New York's Amare Stoudemire was held out of the contest to rest his surgically repaired knees with the team playing the second of a back-to-back.
