NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Friday, December 13th (All times Eastern)

Brooklyn Nets (8-14) at Detroit Pistons (10-13), 7:30 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Brooklyn Nets will search for a fourth consecutive victory on Friday night when they visit The Palace of Auburn Hills to take on the Detroit Pistons.

The Nets collected their third straight win on Thursday night when they knocked off the Los Angeles Clippers, 102-93 at the Barclays Center.

It was an emotional sort of night for some of the Nets as Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett played against their former coach Doc Rivers. The duo didn't play when the Clippers beat the Nets on Nov. 16 in Los Angeles.

"I'll always have a special place for Doc," Garnett said.

Joe Johnson and Andray Blatche led the way in the scoring column with 21 points apiece. Brook Lopez added 16 and Deron Williams, in his second game back after ankle problems, chipped in 15.

"Deron's play is just dictating how we're coming out and starting games," said Garnett. "He's pushing the pace. He's being Deron Williams. I really feel like that's the difference."

Pierce had 10 points off the bench as he's still getting his feet under him after a hand injury.

The Pistons have dropped three straight, including two in a row at home. Their most recent setback came on the road as they fell 111-106 in overtime in New Orleans.

Detroit was led by Greg Monroe, who had 28 points and 10 rebounds. Brandon Jennings scored 25 and Rodney Stuckey continued his great season with 20 points in a reserve role.

The Pistons overcame a nine-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter. They held the Pelicans to just 13 points over the final 12 minutes of regulation, but couldn't keep New Orleans off the scoreboard in overtime.

"Our bench really helped us out. We grinded that game out, but the end result wasn't what we wanted, but we played well," said center Andre Drummond, who finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Josh Smith added 11 points in defeat.

The Pistons beat the Nets, 109-97 in Brooklyn on Nov. 24. That halted a four- game losing streak in this series. The Nets won both times in Detroit last season and that ended a 10-game slide at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
