NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Monday, November 4th (All times Eastern)

Golden State Warriors (2-1) at Philadelphia 76ers (3-0), 7 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - After defeating some of the finest the Eastern Conference has to offer, the unbeaten Philadelphia 76ers will take their shots Monday against one of the best in the West, the Golden State Warriors.

The Sixers disposed of mighty Miami in their season opener, battled back to beat Washington Friday and did the same to Chicago the next night. Rookie Michael Carter-Williams scored 13 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter of a 107-104 victory and has been very impressive through three games, averaging 20.7 points, 9.0 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 4.3 steals.

Carter-Williams handed out 10 assists versus the Bulls, while Evan Turner scored 20 points and Spencer Hawes added 18 and 11 rebounds for the 76ers, who trailed by as many as 20 points in the second quarter and used a 7-0 run late in the game to erase a 99-93 deficit. After trailing 104-102, the Sixers scored the game's last five points.

"We understand what everybody has said and written about us," Sixers head coach Brett Brown said of preseason predictions that had his team tanking and finishing with the worst record. "I'm lucky I've found a group that enjoys each other's company and they enjoy playing together."

Turner has netted 20 or more points in all three games and the 76ers are 3-0 for the first time since the 2006-07 season. The last time they won four straight to open a season was back in 2000-01 with a 10-0 start.

Philadelphia is fourth in scoring this season with 110.0 points per game and Golden State is second at 112.7 ppg. The Warriors will play their next four games on the road against Philly, Minnesota, San Antonio and Memphis, and rebounded from their only loss with Saturday's 98-87 win over Sacramento.

Klay Thompson continued his hot start to the season and scored 27 points. He is averaging 25.0 ppg this season and his teammate, Steph Curry, registered 22 points and 12 assists versus the Kings. David Lee ended with 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and former Sixer Andre Iguodala, a defensive stalwart, had five points, five assists and six boards.

The Warriors bounced back from a tough road loss to the Los Angeles Clippers and shot 51.3 percent for the game.

"I thought our defense was outstanding. We did an outstanding job of being aggressive and taking their home-run hitters out of the equation," Warriors head coach Mark Jackson said.

Curry and Thompson will give the Sixers fits, but the hosts have already turned away LeBron James, John Wall and Derrick Rose from tasting victory. Curry and Thompson are one of the best 3-point shooting tandems in the NBA, so defending the perimeter is a must for Brown's squad.

In injury news for Golden State, forward Harrison Barnes (foot) is doubtful Monday and veteran center Jermaine O'Neal (foot) is questionable.

The Warriors and Sixers split two matchups a season ago, but the 76ers have won seven of the last 10 meetings. Philly is unbeaten in the past five at home versus the Warriors.
