NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Friday, January 17th (All times Eastern)

Miami Heat (27-11) at Philadelphia 76ers (13-25), 7 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Miami Heat are in uncharted waters with three straight losses and will make a return to Philadelphia Friday night to face the 76ers at Wells Fargo Center.

The Heat were bounced by the Sixers, 114-110, back on Oct. 30 in south Philly and had won 15 straight in the series. Still, Miami is 17-3 in the last 20 meetings with Philadelphia and 7-1 in the previous eight contests in the City of Brotherly Love.

Miami has dropped three in a row after winning three straight and hasn't suffered four straight losses since a five-game drought from Feb. 27 - March 8, 2011. In Wednesday's 114-97 defeat at Washington, Chris Bosh (26), LeBron James (25) and Norris Cole (15) were the only players to score in double figures for Miami, which made 44 percent from the floor and is winless (0-3) on a six-game road trip.

Dwyane Wade ended with eight points in the loss, as the Heat fell to 11-8 away from South Beach this season. Washington scored a season-high 43 points in the first quarter, as well as a season-high 69 points at the half, to take a 69-48 lead into halftime.

Greg Oden made an appearance for the Heat and had six points and two rebounds in less than nine minutes. Oden, the former No. 1 pick Miami signed in August, dressed for the first time in the regular season since Dec. 5, 2009 for Portland, which drafted him in 2007 only to see the 7-footer play 82 total games because of bad knees before cutting him.

"It feels very good, but I wish we could've won," Oden said. "That's the most important thing."

The Heat will also visit Charlotte and Atlanta on the journey. In injury news for the Heat, guard Mario Chalmers (Achilles) and forward Chris Andersen (soreness) are questionable against the 76ers.

Philadelphia ended a four-game losing streak in dramatic fashion Wednesday versus the Charlotte Bobcats, as Thaddeus Young buried the game-winning 3- pointer in the waning seconds to lift the Sixers.

"I don't know what they were thinking when they both ran to Mike (Carter- Williams) and I was kind of like wide-open," Young said of Charlotte's defense on his go-ahead jumper.

Young had just 11 points versus the Bobcats, but is posting an average of 19.3 ppg in his past 23 games. He has scored 20 or more points in eight of the last 12 contests (13 overall).

Evan Turner had a team-best 23 points on 10-of-19 shooting, Carter-Williams tallied 20 points, eight rebounds and seven assists and Spencer Hawes chipped in 17 points to go along with 14 boards. The Sixers, who turned the ball over 24 times for 25 Charlotte points, made 50.6 percent of their shots and stopped a three-game slide at home.

Hawes is averaging 16.7 points and 10.3 rebounds in his last three games, while Carter-Williams has posted 20-plus points in three of the last four.

After hosting the two-time defending champion Heat, the Sixers, who are 8-11 at home, will play three straight on the road against Chicago, Washington and New York.
