National Basketball Association Playoff Game Capsules
(Wednesday, April 23rd)

Final Score: Miami 101, Charlotte 97

Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - LeBron James scored 32 points and the Miami Heat pulled away again to beat the feisty Charlotte Bobcats, 101-97, in Game 2 of their first-round Eastern Conference playoff series on Wednesday. The Heat took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series heading into Saturday's Game 3 in Charlotte, but not without a little more resistance than they might have expected from the only current NBA franchise without a postseason win. Chris Bosh's 3-pointer put the stops on a 10-0 Bobcats run in the fourth quarter and Dwyane Wade came up with a steal near the sideline in the final seconds with the Heat clinging to a three-point lead, hitting a foul shot at the other end to seal the win. Bosh added 20 points and Wade scored 15. The three stars combined to score 19 of Miami's 22 points in the fourth quarter. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist led Charlotte with 22 points and 10 rebounds and Al Jefferson scored 18 with 13 boards despite suffering a plantar fascia strain in his left foot in Game 1.

Final Score: Dallas 113, San Antonio 92

San Antonio, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Monta Ellis provided 21 points and Shawn Marion scored 20, and Dallas took advantage of sloppy play by the Spurs to rout San Antonio, 113-92, in Game 2 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series. The Mavericks could have easily been up 2-0 in the series against the West's top seed, but lost the opener, 90-85, Sunday despite leading by double digits in the fourth quarter. The Mavs turned it around on Wednesday by forcing 24 Spurs turnovers, which led to 33 points. Dallas snapped a 10- game skid against the Spurs. Dirk Nowitzki had 16 points, two less than teammate Devin Harris. Jose Calderon chipped all 12 of his points during the third quarter. Manu Ginobili totaled 27 points off the bench for San Antonio, which made half of its shots from the field. Tony Parker had 12 points and Tim Duncan 11 to go with seven rebounds. Game 3 of the best-of-seven set is Saturday afternoon in Dallas.

Final Score: Portland 112, Houston 105

Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - LaMarcus Aldridge followed up a gargantuan performance in the series opener with another monster effort in Game 2, as the Portland Trail Blazers escaped Houston with a 112-105 victory over the Rockets and a commanding 2-0 series lead. Aldridge has been otherworldly in this Western Conference quarterfinal series, first piling up a Blazers postseason record 46 points in Sunday's overtime win, then filling it up for 43 more on an absurd 18-of-28 shooting display Wednesday in front of a stunned crowd at Toyota Center. Damian Lillard again played the role of Robin to Aldridge's Batman, totaling 18 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds for the Blazers, whose bench outscored Houston's reserves by a 30-13 margin. Lillard came away with a huge offensive rebound in the final minute and hit two free throws with 42.8 seconds remaining to close out the win. Dwight Howard led Houston with 32 points and 14 rebounds but was limited to seven points after halftime. James Harden netted 18 points, but needed 19 shots to do so as the All-Star has connected on just 29.8 percent (14-of-47) from the floor through the first two games. The Rockets made just 3-of-16 attempts from 3-point range and must change things around quickly when the series resumes Friday night in Portland.
