NBA Game Summary - Toronto at Philadelphia

(Wednesday, November 20th)

Final Score: Toronto 108, Philadelphia 98

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - DeMar DeRozan continued his hot shooting with 33 points and the Toronto Raptors shot a blistering 14-of-29 from 3-point range in a 108-98 win over the Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center.

Rudy Gay scored 18 points, Terrence Ross chipped in with 17, and Kyle Lowry scored 13 points with 10 assists for the Raptors, who snapped a brief two-game losing streak.

Philadelphia's Evan Turner made a pair of free throws late in the first quarter before Toronto used an 8-0 run to take a 25-19 lead after a pair of 3- pointers from Ross and Steve Novak. The Sixers never regained the lead and trailed by double-digits for much of the second half.

Spencer Hawes scored a season-high 28 points with 10 rebounds while Turner also added a double-double, scoring 13 points with 10 boards, in the loss. Philadelphia has now lost four straight games after its overtime win against Houston.

DeRozan hit a jumper with 2:25 left in the second, which ignited a 6-0 run that he capped with a pair at the line for a 55-44 Toronto lead.

The swingman scored 22 in the half on 3-of-4 shooting from deep and led Toronto to a 55-48 advantage at the break.

When speaking of DeRozan's effort, Raptors head coach Dwane Casey said, "It was a very efficient game, 10-for-19, 3-for-5 from three, but it was all started by Rudy's penetrating and kicking, Kyle's penetrating and kicking."

Philadelphia, one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA, had trouble stopping Toronto from outside without one of its best defenders, Thaddeus Young, who missed the game because of personal reasons.

The Sixers did welcome rookie point guard Michael Carter-Williams back into the lineup after a four-game hiatus with a bruise on the arch of his left foot. He tallied 10 points on 2-of-10 shooting with six assists and six rebounds.

"I was a little anxious at first to get out there, I was a little rusty," Carter-Williams said. "I'm staying positive, staying with the team, we're just trying to win a game."

On the Raptors' final possession of the third, Lowry dribbled baseline, cut through two defenders, and skipped a pass to the corner for Novak, who buried a triple with 3.9 seconds left to give Toronto its largest lead of the game to that point, 93-77, heading into the fourth.

Toronto's Dwight Buycks hit a 3-pointer with just over nine minutes left in the game to stretch the Toronto lead to 100-85, and even though the Raptors only managed one basket the rest of the way, they cruised to the win.

Tony Wroten, who averaged 19.5 points a game in Carter-Williams' absence, scored nine points on 3-of-11 shooting.
