NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Wednesday, January 8th (All times Eastern)

Golden State Warriors (24-13) at Brooklyn Nets (13-21), 7:30 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Golden State Warriors have a chance to make NBA history when they close out their seven-game road trip Wednesday against the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center.

The Warriors are riding a season-high 10-game winning streak and improved to 6-0 on the eastern trip with Tuesday's 101-80 victory at Milwaukee. With a win in Brooklyn, the Warriors would become the first team in NBA history to sweep a seven-game road trip.

David Lee led the Warriors in the win over the Bucks with 22 points and 18 rebounds, while Klay Thompson and Steph Curry had 15 points apiece. The Warriors used a 27-9 run out of the locker room to take control and have played a league-high 22 road games.

"I've said all along that Curry is an All-Star, there's no question about that. But the way that David Lee has played the last 15 ballgames, he's an All-Star," Warriors head coach Mark Jackson said. "He has separated himself."

Lee is averaging 23.2 points and 10.7 rebounds during the road trip.

Golden State hasn't lost since a home setback on Dec. 19 to the San Antonio Spurs and tied a franchise record with seven straight road wins (Jan. 19-Feb. 11, 1969). The Warriors are one win away from matching their franchise-record 11-game win streak set in 1971-72 (Dec. 29-Jan. 22).

The Warriors improved to 15-2 when holding opponents under 100 points and have a 13-9 record outside Oakland. They will return to Oracle Arena later this week to host Boston and Denver.

Brooklyn is 3-0 in the new year and improved to 2-0 on a four-game homestand with Monday's 91-86 win over the Atlanta Hawks. Joe Johnson scored 23 points on 10-of-22 shooting, Mirza Teletovic added 16 points and Alan Anderson chipped in 14 for the Nets, who scored 28 points off 18 Atlanta turnovers.

"Jason (Kidd) told me he wanted to pick it up. He told me he wanted me to be assertive, take over and make plays," Johnson said after snapping a streak of five straight games scoring in single digits.

The Nets have won three in a row at home and are 8-9 in Brooklyn. They will close the stay Friday versus LeBron James and the Miami Heat.

Brooklyn is holding opposing teams to 87.0 points per game during the winning streak and will be without star point guard Deron Williams for about a week with an ankle sprain. Williams had an MRI Monday and will be evaluated at the end of the week.

The Nets and Warriors are meeting for the first time since Golden State swept a two-game set last season. The Warriors are 8-3 in the past 11 matchups with the Nets, but have lost 12 of 15 as the visitor in this series.
