NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Wednesday, November 13th (All times Eastern)

Los Angeles Lakers (4-5) at Denver Nuggets (2-4), 9 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Lakers will look for back-to-back victories on Wednesday night when they visit the Pepsi Center to face the Denver Nuggets.

The Lakers rolled over the New Orleans Pelicans at the Staples Center Tuesday night, 116-95. The victory snapped a two-game losing streak.

The always tinkering mind of head coach Mike D'Antoni unleashed a new starting lineup Tuesday and the changes worked. Jordan Hill began the game at the power forward spot and posted 21 points and 11 rebounds.

"I think he's been effective the whole time. The group he was with, the second group, was our best lineup," D'Antoni said of Hill. "I was a little hesitant to break that up, because that was the thing that seemed like it was going well. But, he gave the first group a little jolt of energy."

Jodie Meeks netted 15 points and Pau Gasol managed 14. Steve Blake had five points and 10 assists, while Nick Young and Xavier Henry scored double figures off the bench.

Steve Nash missed Tuesday's game and will be out of action the next two weeks with nerve root irritation in his chronically injured back. He received an epidural to alleviate the pain on Tuesday.

The Nuggets picked up their second win of the season on Monday with a 100-81 road win over the Utah Jazz. It was their first victory away from the Mile High City this season.

Denver blew the doors of the Jazz in the fourth quarter of a close game Monday. The Nuggets took the frame, 30-13, despite being up two at the start of the quarter.

Ty Lawson led the way with 17 points, 10 assists and just one turnover. Andre Miller and Kenneth Faried had 15 apiece, J.J. Hickson tallied 14 and Timofey Mozgov chipped in 10 off the bench.

The Nuggets get a little bit deeper, starting on Wednesday as Wilson Chandler is expected to make his season debut. He strained his right hamstring on the second day of training camp.

Denver could use some good news on the health front with JaVale McGee sidelined indefinitely with a stress fracture in his left leg and Danilo Gallinari nowhere near ready to return from his knee injury.

"He brings a lot to the table," Nuggets coach Brian Shaw said. "I kind of got a little gleam in my eye in anticipation of him coming back. Just overall, it gives a big shot in our arm having him out there."

The Nuggets took three of four from the Lakers last season and seven of their last nine at home in this series.
