NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Saturday, February 1st (All times Eastern)

Philadelphia 76ers (15-32) at Detroit Pistons (18-27), 7:30 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Detroit Pistons haven't played since Tuesday, but will get back at it Saturday night when they welcome the Philadelphia 76ers to The Palace of Auburn Hills.

The Pistons were scheduled to visit the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night, but the game was canceled due to inclement weather in Atlanta. The game was rescheduled for April 8.

The Pistons snapped a four-game losing streak Tuesday night against the visiting Orlando Magic.

On Tuesday, Brandon Jennings scored 20 points with eight assists to lead the Pistons to a 103-87 win.

Josh Smith contributed 16 points, Andre Drummond deposited 13 points with 17 rebounds, and Rodney Stuckey added 13 points off the bench for Detroit. Kyle Singler scored 12 points in a reserve role for the Pistons.

"I think we just played harder that night," Drummond said. "We had a mindset that we weren't going to let them be comfortable and do the stuff they're used to doing. On ball cuts, we hit them hard and on their shots we make sure we fouled them hard when they go up for layups. We just made it tough for them, played physical."

It was an important night for Drummond, who managed only four points in Sunday's loss at Dallas.

The Sixers were trounced at home on Friday night by the Atlanta Hawks, 125-99.

"It was the poorest performance of our season tonight. It was one of the only times this season I felt the effort wasn't there," said Sixers coach Brett Brown. "As a group, we have no appreciation for playing defense."

Brown is absolutely correct. In 47 games this season, the Sixers have surrendered 100 points or more 41 times, ranking dead last in the NBA in opponents scoring.

The offense hasn't been sensational as of late either. The Sixers have failed to score 100 points in nine of their last 11.

Thaddeus Young's 29-point effort went for naught as the Sixers lost for the fifth straight time at home. Michael Carter-Williams added 17 points and Elliot Williams scored a season-high 15 off the bench in defeat. Lavoy Allen registered a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Sixers, who have won two in a row on the road, committed 21 turnovers, which led to 26 Atlanta points. Philly allowed the Hawks to shoot 50 percent from the floor and from 3-point range.

The Pistons have won both of this season's matchups and three in a row against the Sixers. Detroit has taken the last three against Philly in The Palace.
