NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Friday, December 13th (All times Eastern)

Memphis Grizzlies (10-11) at New Orleans Pelicans (10-10), 8 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Memphis Grizzlies will try to extend their road winning streak to six games when they visit the New Orleans Pelicans Friday night in the Big Easy.

The Grizzlies are 5-3 away from FedExForum, where it went 2-4 on a recent homestand. They capped the residency with Wednesday's 116-100 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, as Mike Conley netted 20 points to go with nine assists and Zach Randolph added 17 points and eight boards in defeat.

Oklahoma City pulled away with a 20-8 run to take a 15-point lead (57-42) into halftime and had a 24-point advantage in the third quarter before resting most of its starters.

"I thought we gave them too many easy baskets," Conley said. "They're too good of a team offensively to give up the easy plays and I think that's where we kind of lost the game."

Conley has scored 10 or more points in every game this season. He is one of only nine players to accomplish the feat.

Jon Leuer scored 17 points for Memphis, which is still playing without reigning Defensive Player of the Year Marc Gasol (knee). Tony Allen (hip) is listed as questionable for Friday and has missed four straight games.

Leuer is averaging 15.4 points per game in his last five games.

New Orleans will wrap up a four-game homestand Friday and is 1-2 on the residency following Wednesday's 111-106 overtime win versus Detroit.

Jason Smith netted 22 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, while Ryan Anderson had 22 points and Jrue Holiday added 19 and eight assists for the Pelicans, who ended a two-game slide and won seven of the last 11 games.

"Although we would have preferred to win in regulation, it was a resilient win for us," Pelicans head coach Monty Williams said.

Tyreke Evans and Eric Gordon scored 14 apiece and Al-Farouq Aminu registered 11 points with 14 rebounds for New Orleans.

After hosting Memphis, the Pelicans, who sport a 6-5 mark at home, will start a five-game road trip Sunday against Denver, Golden State, the Los Angeles Clippers, Portland and Sacramento.

New Orleans handed the Grizzlies a 99-84 setback at FedExForum back on Nov. 6 and has won two straight and three of four meetings between the teams. The Grizzlies have lost 12 of their last 16 visits to the Crescent City.
