NBA Game Summary - Indiana at Charlotte

(Wednesday, March 5th)

Final Score: Charlotte 109, Indiana 87

Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Al Jefferson poured in 34 points and six Bobcats reached double figures in Charlotte's stunning 109-87 rout of the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday.

Kemba Walker donated 19 points and nine assists, while Chris Douglas-Roberts and Josh McRoberts added 12 apiece to help Charlotte snap a three-game losing skid.

One game after LeBron James hung a Miami franchise record 61 points on Charlotte and its primary wing defender Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, the defense responded in a big way.

"Gilchrist, to me, set the tone both halves," praised Bobcats head coach Steve Clifford. "Set the tone with his defense, his energy running the floor, and his rebounding."

The Pacers shot just 40.8 percent in losing their second straight game for just the second time this season. Evan Turner led the way with 22 points off the bench, while leading scorer Paul George netted a season-low two points on 0-for-9 from the field.

"Tough loss for our guys," said Indiana head coach Frank Vogel. "Everybody needs to question the Eastern Conference coaches voting why Al Jefferson wasn't on the All-Star team. Clearly he's one of the best in the game and he showed that tonight."

Douglas-Roberts, starting in place of an injured Gerald Henderson, set the tone for Charlotte on its first possession with a corner 3-ball. McRoberts capped a 9-2 start with a dunk at 8:20, prompting an early Indiana timeout.

The Pacers scored on consecutive possessions out of the huddle but went cold after that, missing four shots with four turnovers on their next eight trips down the floor. By the time David West finally got a jumper to go at 2:31, the Bobcats had built a 23-6 advantage.

Jefferson made all six of his shots for 12 points, while the Pacers hit just 4-of-20 in the period. Charlotte owned a 28-8 edge after the first.

Indiana found its groove early in the second, with George Hill, Lance Stephenson and Turner leading the charge. The trio combined for an 11-1 run to open the frame, with Hill's floater trimming the deficit to single digits at 8:13.

Roy Hibbert's late jumper had Indiana within 41-38, but the Bobcats netted the final six points of the half to keep momentum heading into the locker room.

The third period, like the first, belonged to the home team. Walker's 3- pointer near the midway point made it 60-42, and his dish to Anthony Tolliver for a catch-and-shoot triple from the right wing with a minute left extended the margin to 71-52.

The Pacers never threatened in the final frame.
