NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Saturday, April 12th (All times Eastern)

Philadelphia 76ers (17-62) at Charlotte Bobcats (40-39), 7 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Charlotte Bobcats had a five-game winning streak snapped on Friday, but will try to reclaim the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference on Saturday when they welcome the Philadelphia 76ers to Time Warner Cable Arena.

The Bobcats fell a game behind the Washington Wizards with their 106-103 loss Friday night to the Boston Celtics at TD Bank Garden. Washington beat the Magic in Orlando to pull a game in front in the battle for the sixth seed in the East.

"We just didn't put much into the game. I thought they deserved to win, they played harder than we did," Bobcats head coach Steve Clifford said.

Al Jefferson led the way for the Bobcats with 32 points and 10 rebounds. Gary Neal (13), Chris Douglas-Roberts (12), Gerald Henderson (11) and Michael Kidd- Gilchrist (10) rounded out the double-figure scorers. Josh McRoberts only managed nine points, but handed out 10 assists.

Charlotte shot 50.6 percent from the field against the Celtics, but allowed Boston to shoot 52 percent from the floor. The C's went 11-for-23 from 3-point range, but the Bobcats did force 20 turnovers while only committing 12 of their own.

The Bobcats travel to Atlanta on Monday, then polish off the regular season Wednesday night with a home contest against the Chicago Bulls.

The 76ers won't be worrying about playoff positioning, considering they were mathematically eliminated from a postseason opportunity over a month ago.

The Sixers have dropped three straight and will finish a three-game road trip Saturday.

On Friday, Philly fell in Memphis to the Grizzlies, 117-95.

Thaddeus Young and Tony Wroten netted 18 points apiece for the Sixers. Elliot Williams chipped in 13 points off the bench, but the Sixers allowed the Grizzlies to shoot 54 percent from the field.

Memphis native Adonis Thomas made his Philly debut, scoring four points.

"It was a dream come true just to wear an NBA jersey in Memphis," said Thomas, who signed a 10-day contract on Monday. "There were a lot of supporters here tonight. I'm just thankful to be able to come back home and play."

The Sixers close up shop on a horrendous 2013-14 campaign with a home tilt versus the Celtics on Monday night, then a trip to South Beach Wednesday to face the Miami Heat.

Charlotte has won two of three this season against the 76ers, who are just 3-8 in their last 11 as the visitor in this series.
