NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Wednesday, November 20th (All times Eastern)

Utah Jazz (1-11) at New Orleans Pelicans (4-6), 8 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - Utah's only win this season came against the New Orleans Pelicans last week in Salt Lake City.

The Jazz look to make it two in a row when the two squads clash Wednesday in the Big Easy.

In a 111-105 victory over the Pelicans last Wednesday, Gordon Hayward scored 27 points and handed out 10 assists to lead the way. Richard Jefferson scored 22 points and Enes Kanter added 21 and 10 rebounds for Utah, which shot 51.4 percent for the game and survived despite committing 21 turnovers for 30 New Orleans points.

Utah has won four in a row in this series and six of 10 in the Crescent City.

The Jazz, though, have lost three straight since their lone victory and will open a three-game road trip against New Orleans, Dallas and Oklahoma City. They are 0-6 on the road this season and winless in seven straight as the guest dating back to last season.

The Jazz are coming off a recent 98-87 loss to Golden State on Monday and received 18 points from Hayward and 16 out of Marvin Williams. Derrick Favors and Ian Clark each had 10 points, as the Jazz dropped to 1-11 on the season.

"I thought they were the more aggressive team. I thought they played with a lot more energy than we did," said Utah coach Tyrone Corbin.

Hayward has led the Jazz in scoring in seven of the last nine games and is averaging 7.3 points per game in the first quarter (87 total).

In injury news for the Jazz, Williams (broken nose) and forward Jeremy Evans (shoulder) will miss Wednesday's game. Williams suffered the break in the first half against the Warriors.

New Orleans ended a three-game losing streak with Saturday's 135-98 rout of the Philadelphia 76ers and welcomed the return of sharp-shooting forward Ryan Anderson. Anderson scored a game-high 26 points and made six 3-pointers. He had missed the first nine games of the season with a broken toe in his right foot.

Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday faced his former squad for the first time since a draft-day trade and finished with 14 points with 12 assists.

"Fortunately, today was more misses for them," Holiday said. "We got a lot more stops and shared the ball really well."

Anthony Davis had a near triple-double with 13 points, nine rebounds and eight blocks and leads the Pelicans in points (20.9), rebounds (11.0) and blocks (3.6) this season. Davis has three double-doubles in his last five games.

The Pelicans are slated to host Cleveland on this homestand and have won two in a row in the Big Easy.
