NBA Game Summary - Minnesota at Golden State

(Monday, April 14th)

Final Score: Golden State 130, Minnesota 120

Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Stephen Curry scored 32 points with 15 assists and the Golden State Warriors defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves, 130-120, on Monday.

With the win, Golden State moved one game clear of Dallas and Memphis and secured the sixth seed in the Western Conference.

David Lee tallied 25 points with nine rebounds, Draymond Green had a career- high 20 points with 12 rebounds and Klay Thompson also added 20 points for the Warriors.

"It's nice to see him (Lee) get his legs back and moving well," said Curry. "It's a big-time confidence boost going into the playoffs just the way his body has responded."

Kevin Love scored 22 of his 40 points in the first quarter while recording 14 rebounds and nine assists for the Wolves, who have lost two straight and three of their last four.

Corey Brewer netted 22 points and Gorgui Dieng deposited 14 points with 11 rebounds in the setback. Ricky Rubio added 15 points with eight assists for Minnesota.

Lee made a hook shot to open the scoring and give the Warriors an early lead. Love proceeded to hit three straight 3-pointers, then knocked down a pair from the free-throw line before Rubio converted a three-point play to give the Timberwolves a 14-2 advantage.

Minnesota maintained the edge for the remainder of the first quarter and led 42-28 after 12 minutes of play.

Brewer's pull-up jumper helped the Timberwolves stretch the margin to 19, 51-32, with just over nine minutes to play in the second.

That's when Golden State made its run.

Curry and Green each hit a pair of threes as part of a 23-4 surge that tied the game at 55-apiece with 2:46 left until halftime.

Minnesota regained the lead and was in front 64-57 when Jermaine O'Neal made a jumper from in close and Thompson nailed a 3, cutting the deficit to two at the break.

"You knew they were going to make a run," said Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman. "Nothing changed. You're not going to be able to hold them down. We got out to a great start, but you knew they were going to make a run eventually."

The fast-paced affair continued in the third with each team trading baskets throughout the period. Golden State brought a 97-92 advantage into the fourth.

Love's 3-pointer with 2 1/2 minutes left in the fourth cut the deficit to three at 119-116, but Lee answered with a layup before Curry added five straight points to push the spread to double digits.
