NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Friday, November 22nd (All times Eastern)

Golden State Warriors (8-4) at Los Angeles Lakers (5-7), 10:30 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Golden State Warriors will try to get back into the win column on Friday night when they visit the Staples Center to take on the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Warriors had a four-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday when they fell 88-81 in overtime at home to the Memphis Grizzlies. They played that one without Steph Curry, who missed the game with a mild concussion and is listed as questionable for Friday's Pacific Division tilt.

"Obviously he's a big time player and not having him hurts us," Warriors coach Mark Jackson said of Curry. "Next guy stands up and we are a no excuse basketball team and I thought my guys gave a great effort. They defended, battled and we fell short."

It was Golden State's first home loss of the season.

Klay Thompson paced the Warriors with 21 points against the Grizz. David Lee scored 18, followed by 16 from Harrison Barnes, who was inserted into the starting lineup in Curry's absence.

Andrew Bogut registered a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Andre Iguodala only had seven points, but handed out 14 assists, playing point guard with Curry out.

The Warriors opened the season with a 125-94 home victory over the Lakers, which was the most points L.A. allowed in a game this season. The Lakers are 25th in opponents' scoring.

With Kobe Bryant practicing, but not yet ready for game action, things may be looking up for the Lakers. They halted a two-game slide with a 114-99 home victory over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday.

The star of the victory was Jordan Hill, recently inserted into the starting lineup. He had a game-high 24 points and a game-best 17 rebounds. Hill is averaging 18.8 points and 12.0 rebounds while shooting 61.7 percent since joining the starting five.

"I get more confidence every time I step on the floor," Hill said. "We don't have Steve Nash. We don't have Kobe. We've got guys that we know have to step up. We're banding together as a team."

Against the Pistons, Jodie Meeks and Nick Young both had 19 points. Wesley Johnson netted 13 points, while Pau Gasol chipped in 12. Steve Blake handed out 16 assists.

The Lakers have won 28 of the last 33 meetings between the two teams and 10 straight at home. Los Angeles has gone 19-1 in its last 20 against Golden State in Staples Center.
