NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Tuesday, November 19th (All times Eastern)

New York Knicks (3-6) at Detroit Pistons (3-6), 7:30 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Knicks hope to keep their road success intact when they visit the Detroit Pistons Tuesday at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

The Knicks are 2-1 away from Madison Square Garden, where they own a lowly 1-5 mark, and have prevailed in back-to-back games as the guest.

New York suffered its second straight loss overall and fifth in a row at MSG in Saturday's 110-90 setback to the Atlanta Hawks, who had eight players score at least 10 points. Carmelo Anthony had a game-high 23 points, Andrea Bargnani added 16 and Iman Shumpert scored 11 in the loss.

The Knicks shot only 37.8 percent from the floor and made 10-of-30 3-pointers.

"You're not going to beat anybody playing soft the way we did," New York head coach Mike Woodson said.

New York is averaging just 94.3 points per game and allowing 99.7 ppg.

In injury news for Woodson's team, guard Raymond Felton (hip) and forward Metta World Peace (knee) are questionable against the Pistons.

Detroit is allowing 103.8 points per game and scoring 100.3 ppg. It failed to reach the 100-point mark for a third straight game Sunday in a 114-99 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Brandon Jennings led the Pistons with 23 points and handed out a season-high 14 assists, while Josh Smith and Greg Monroe scored 18 and 17 points, respectively. Rodney Stuckey chipped in 16 points and Andre Drummond totaled 14 and 13 boards for Detroit, which made 48.3 percent of its shots and lost for the fifth time in six tries.

The Lakers scored 16 straight points during a furious rally that spanned the third and fourth quarters for an 85-71 advantage. Detroit was held without a field goal for 5:07 and trailed by as many as 19 points (106-87).

"We got ourselves in a hole and couldn't get out," Pistons head coach Maurice Cheeks said.

The Pistons closed out their four-game western jaunt at 1-3.

Drummond has been playing well and is averaging 15.3 points and 15.3 rebounds in his last four contests. He leads the NBA in field goal percentage (65.9).

Detroit lost all four meetings with New York a season ago and is winless in the last seven matchups between the teams. The Knicks are 14-3 in the last 17 games against the Pistons, but have lost 13 of 19 trips to The Palace.
