NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Friday, March 21st (All times Eastern)

New York Knicks (28-40) at Philadelphia 76ers (15-53), 7 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Knicks impressed new team president Phil Jackson last time out and they will take a seven-game win streak into Philadelphia Friday night to face the 76ers, a team which has lost 22 straight.

The Knicks haven't lost since March 3 at Detroit and have won three in a row on the road.

In his first appearance as president on Wednesday night, the Knicks knocked off the Eastern Conference's best team, the Indiana Pacers, 92-86, at Madison Square Garden.

After receiving a standing ovation during pregame introductions, Jackson witnessed Carmelo Anthony put up 34 points and Amar'e Stoudemire add 21 in just 29 minutes to help continue the Knicks' late push for a postseason berth.

Tyson Chandler pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds for New York, now just four games back of Atlanta for the Eastern Conference's final playoff spot with 14 to play. Raymond Felton scored 11 points in the victory.

"With a guy like that around it creates a winning mentality, it creates an atmosphere that's pretty golden and we've got to capitalize on that," Stoudemire said of Jackson.

The Knicks host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night, then head west to face the Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings, Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors and Utah Jazz.

At the other end of the spectrum, is the 76ers.

How long has it been since the Sixers last won? Their victory over the Celtics came after Even Turner, who now plays for Indiana, hit an off-balance jumper at the buzzer. It was four days before the Super Bowl and nine days before the opening ceremony of the Sochi Olympics.

They've dropped a franchise-worst 22 consecutive games, including 17 straight at Wells Fargo Center. The NBA record for longest losing streak is 26 games by the Cavaliers in the 2010-11 season.

The Sixers were game last time out, losing to the Chicago Bulls at home Wednesday night, 102-94.

They cut the deficit to four late in the fourth quarter, but Tony Wroten missed a layup and Jimmy Butler made some free throws to ice the victory for the Bulls.

"The energy was there," said Byron Mullens, who scored 10 of his 12 in the fourth quarter. "Of course it always helps to make shots, but it was a tough loss for us. It was a really good game. We just have to play like that every night."

Thaddeus Young led the way with 24 points, followed by 17 from Wroten and 16 from rookie Michael Carter-Williams.

The Sixers, if they lose to the Knicks on Friday, could match the Cavs' record on a three-game road trip versus the Bulls, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets.

The Knicks have won two of three this season against the Sixers, including a 10-point win in Philadelphia on Jan. 11. The Knicks are 12-5 in their last 17 against their Atlantic Division rivals.
