Insight: Gortat had a successful first season in Washington after the team acquired him from Phoenix for Emeka Okafor and a first-round pick. He averaged 32.8 minutes, 13.2 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 81 games and the Wizards made the second round of the playoffs.

5/13/2014 9:24:00 PM
Description: Wizards center Marcin Gortat erupted for 31 points on 13-of-15 shooting Tuesday in a win over Indiana.
Insight: The 31 points ties a season-high. Gortat also collected a game-high 16 rebounds in 36 minutes of court time. Game 6 will be held Thursday night in Washington.

5/7/2014 9:48:00 PM
Description: Marcin Gortat led the Wizards with 21 points and ten boards Wednesday in a loss to Indiana.
Insight: Gortat shot just 4-for-12 in the opener but he was money in Game 2 (10-for-15). Even with Roy Hibbert blowing up for 28 points, Gortat still managed 11 rebounds for his second straight double-double.

5/5/2014 9:45:00 PM
Description: Washington center Marcin Gortat delivered 12 points, 15 rebounds and three blocked shots in Monday's win against Indiana.
Insight: Gortat has corralled double-digit rebounds in three of his last four games. Unfortunately, he's only made 36.2 percent of his field goals over that span (17-of-47).

4/20/2014 10:06:00 PM
Description: Wizards center Marcin Gortat collected 15 points and 13 rebounds Sunday in a win over Chicago.
Insight: It's Gortat's second career postseason double-double. He's averaged 13.5 ppg on 59 percent shooting in four contests against the Bulls this season.

Hot4/9/2014 9:47:00 PM
Description: Wizards center Marcin Gortat scored 27 points and grabbed 14 rebounds Wednesday against Charlotte.
Insight: Gortat's game has really taken off since the All-Star break. He has averaged 15.9 points and 10.8 rebounds since then, compared to 11.9 points and 8.7 boards before it.

3/27/2014 5:26:00 PM
Description: Wizards center Marcin Gortat will have a precautionary MRI on his back, according to Michael Lee of the Washington Post.
Insight: Gortat missed a game last week but made a quick recovery after receiving treatment from a specialist in Chinese medicine orthopedics. The MRI is more of a follow-up on last week than something to be concerned about.

3/23/2014 9:02:00 PM
Description: Wizards center Marcin Gortat had a productive evening Sunday against Denver.
Insight: Gortat finished with 16 points, ten rebounds, five assists and two blocked shots. Since shooting 1-for-8 against Brooklyn last Saturday, Gortat has averaged 16 ppg on 52.8 percent shooting (19-for-36).

3/21/2014 10:20:00 AM
Description: Washington center Marcin Gortat hurt his back during pre-game warmups forcing him to watch Thursday's game and he's doubtful for Friday.
Insight: Given that the Washington Post reported he was having trouble putting on his shirt and shoes, he probably needs a couple days off. Gortat has been a solid performaer this season, averaging 12.8 ppg and 9.3 rpg, both totals higher than in his final season with Phoenix.

3/20/2014 9:50:00 PM
Description: Washington center Marcin Gortat won't be on the floor Thursday against Portland. SOURCE: Casey Holdahl, Blazers.com
Insight: He hurt his back during pre-game warmups. That opens the door for Drew Gooden to make his first start of the season. The veteran has averaged 19.5 ppg on 71.4 percent shooting over his last two contests.

Hot3/14/2014 9:58:00 PM
Description: Wizards center Marcin Gortat had his third straight double-double Friday at Orlando, putting up 19 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 44 minutes.
Insight: Gortat has picked up the slack with Nene out of the lineup due to a knee injury. Over his last 13 games, the center has averaged 16.5 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting nearly 58 percent from the field.

3/10/2014 10:31:00 PM
Description: Washington center Marcin Gortat, who recently made headlines for advocating fighting in the NBA (though it sounds like he was joking), was outstanding Monday in a loss to Miami.
Insight: Gortat finished with 14 points, 18 rebounds, four assists and zero penalty minutes. He's averaging 14 ppg on 60.4 percent shooting for the month of March.

Hot2/27/2014 10:58:00 PM
Description: Wizards center Marcin Gortat set a new career high with 31 points Thursday, and grabbed 12 rebounds to extend his double-double streak to six games.
Insight: Gortat had 51 minutes to do his damage, as the game went to triple overtime. He has averaged 18.8 points, 11.3 boards and 1.2 blocks during the last six games.

Hot2/25/2014 9:39:00 PM
Description: Make that five straight double-doubles for Wizards center Marcin Gortat.
Insight: Gortat had 21 points and 10 rebounds in 38 minutes Tuesday against Orlando and has averaged 16.4 points and 11.2 boards during his streak. He'll need to pick up more of the interior scoring slack with Nene (knee) sidelined for six weeks.

Hot2/22/2014 10:09:00 PM
Description: Wizards center Marcin Gortat has generated three consecutive double-doubles.
Insight: He has averaged 16 points, 11 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in that span after putting 16 and 10 and one on the board Saturday against the Pelicans.

2/18/2014 10:02:00 PM
Description: It wasn't enough to give Washington the win but fantasy owners have to be pleased with the way Marcin Gortat performed Tuesday against Toronto.
Insight: The big man clocked out with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting. He added 11 rebounds for his 18th double-double of the season. There's a reason this guy is owned in every ESPN league.

2/2/2014 10:26:00 AM
Description: Wizards center Marcin Gortat helped end Oklahoma City's ten-game winning streak with a double-double on Saturday night.
Insight: Gortat's stat line included 14 points, 14 rebounds and two assists. The 29-year-old's first season in Washington has been a bit of a mixed bag. Gortat's scoring (12.0 ppg) is up from last season (11.1 ppg) but it's still well below the 15.4 ppg he averaged in Phoenix during the 2011-12 campaign.

1/7/2014 10:01:00 PM
Description: Washington center Marcin Gortat bounced back from Sunday's benching and had 18 points, 13 rebounds, a steal and three blocks in 38 minutes Tuesday at Charlotte.
Insight: Gortat came in averaging just 24.5 minutes per game over his last six contests, so it's a good sign he was on the court for 38 Tuesday.

Cold1/6/2014 11:13:00 AM
Description: Washington center Marcin Gortat was benched in the third quarter Sunday and didn't return.
Insight: With 12.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game, Gortat has been a strong No. 2 fantasy center this season, but if he and management can't work out their differences he could drop in value. His numbers have steadily dropped since November and he's averaging just 10.7 ppg and 5.3 rpg in January.

11/28/2013 12:02:00 PM
Description: Washington center Marcin Gortat made 11 of his 12 field-goal attempts and had 25 points, eight boards, two assists and two blocks over 41 minutes Wednesday at Milwaukee.
Insight: With 13.2 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game, Gortat has been a strong No. 2 fantasy center this season.
