NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Wednesday, March 5th (All times Eastern)

Golden State Warriors (37-24) at Boston Celtics (20-40), 7:30 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Golden State Warriors will end a long eastern road trip Wednesday night when they visit TD Bank Garden to face the Boston Celtics.

The Warriors are 3-2 on the sojourn and picked up a gigantic victory Tuesday night. Golden State used a late jumper from Klay Thompson to earn a 98-96 win over the East-leading Indiana Pacers.

Thompson backed down George Hill and drained a 17-foot fadeaway jumper with just 0.6 seconds left. Hill missed his desperation 3-pointer to give the Warriors the win.

"I just tried to use my body to back him down and make some space for the shot," said Thompson. "Yes it's a great feeling to come in here and get a win, it's huge, especially against the team with best record in the NBA."

Thompson had 16 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter. Stephen Curry tallied 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists for the Warriors, who have won six of their last eight games.

David Lee finished with 11, followed by 10 apiece off the bench from both Harrison Barnes and Draymond Green.

The Celtics have lost six of their last seven, but they're 1-1 on this five- game homestand. Boston will host the Brooklyn Nets and Detroit Pistons on this residency.

On Saturday, the Indiana Pacers came to Beantown and left with a 102-97 victory.

Jeff Green netted 27 points and Kris Humphries supplied 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Celtics. Rajon Rondo also had a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists.

Brandon Bass chipped in 16 points and Jerryd Bayless managed 11 points.

"I'm pretty pleased with the way we looked as a basketball team. I'm excited because we are getting better," Celtics head coach Brad Stevens said.

On the injury front for the Celtics, there's some good news and some bad news.

First, the bad news. Gerald Wallace underwent surgeries on both his left ankle and knee on Tuesday and has been declared done for the season by the organization.

Kelly Olynyk practiced on Tuesday and should be back Wednesday night. Avery Bradley, who has missed 14 of the C's last 17 games with a sprained right ankle, won't play Wednesday, but he's closer to a return.

The Warriors bested the Celtics at Oracle Arena on Jan. 10, but the C's have won five straight over Golden State in Boston.
