NBA Game Summary - San Antonio at Sacramento

(Friday, March 21st)

Final Score: San Antonio 99, Sacramento 79

Sacramento, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Marco Belinelli scored 17 points as the San Antonio Spurs extended their winning streak to 12 games with a 99-79 victory over the Sacramento Kings.

The 12-game winning streak is the first by San Antonio since Nov. 1-24, 2010.

The Spurs also pushed their winning streak over the Kings to nine games overall and 11 straight in Sacramento. They have won 30 of the last 33 in the series.

Kawhi Leonard tallied 15 points, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker each notched 14 points and Tiago Splitter contributed an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double in the win.

Tim Duncan added 10 points with nine rebounds and six assists for the Spurs.

"It was one of those games that we couldn't make a shot. The good thing is that they couldn't make one either," said Ginobili. "The defense was great and that's what kept us up 10 almost the whole game."

Isaiah Thomas paced the Kings with 18 points despite shooting 7-of-17 from the field. DeMarcus Cousins registered 15 points with 13 boards and Rudy Gay chipped in 14 points in the setback, Sacramento's sixth in its last eight games.

The Spurs were held to 36-of-93 (38.7 percent) shooting but made 22-of-27 free throws compared to just 11 in 18 attempts from the line for Sacramento.

"I loved the effort tonight. I loved the defense," said Kings coach Michael Malone. "If you were to tell me going into tonight we would hold the Spurs to 99 points and 39 percent shooting, I would say we win. The game was a lot closer than the final score had indicated."

Leonard scored the first four points of a 14-4 run and Splitter capped it with a three-point play for a 16-8 edge just before the midway point of the first quarter.

Sacramento would rip off nine straight with Thomas' jumper giving the Kings a 17-16 lead.

That would be the last time the hosts would see an advantage.

Duncan and Patty Mills each hit a pair of free throws around a Belinelli jumper to regain the lead and the Spurs led 24-23 after 12 minutes.

An 8-1 run to open the second staked the Spurs to a 32-24 lead and the visitors would stretch the lead to 10, 47-37, at the break.

San Antonio kept its distance in the second half, leading 69-57 after three quarters and ending the game on an 8-0 run to make the final margin its largest lead of the night.
