NC State adds Alabama transfer Trevor Lacey

Posted June 18, 2013

— North Carolina State University announced Tuesday the addition of guard Trevor Lacey, a transfer from the University of Alabama.

Lacey, who started 52 games in his two seasons with the Crimson Tide, will have two years of eligibility remaining to play for the Wolfpack after sitting out the 2013-14 season.

“We are extremely excited to have a player with Trevor’s abilities join our program,” head coach Mark Gottfried said in a statement. “He is a winner and really understands the game. I believe he is a player that will blossom in our system, and we look forward to having him be a part of our team.”.

As a sophomore in 2012-13, the Huntsville, Ala., native averaged 11.3 points and 3.8 rebounds per contest and led the team in assists per game (3.2), three-pointers made (62) and three-pointers attempted (166).

A five-star recruit out of high school, Lacey was initially recruited by teams including Kentucky, Kansas, and Connecticut before deciding to play for the team in his home state.

I would think Desmond Lee would slide into Purvis' slot in the rotation this year. Good pick up. I'm glad they got another quality player for practice this year.

From what I understand Alabama plays at a slower tempo, and he would prefer to play in a more up tempo offense. he knew Gott as he had been recruited by him previously. Great fit and adds more depth to the backcourt. Could be an uptick from Purvis - but we'll see.
