NC State FB Winkles charged with DWI

Raleigh, N.C. — NC State redshirt junior fullback Logan Winkles has been charged with driving while impaired according to Wake County court documents.
Winkles was also charged with driving while consuming alcohol by a person under 21 years of age. He will turn 21 in August.
His court date set has been set for March 25.
Winkles started four games in 2012 recording nine catches for 85 yards and two touchdowns. He played just 24 snaps at fullback in 2011 but saw considerable time on special teams.
A Thomaston, Ga. native, Winkles redshirted his first year in Raleigh after suffering a knee injury.

Guess they can add a "Safe Driving 101" to that rigorous "First Year College" ruse that is in place at State to "keep 'em on the field".
I can assume as well that in keeping with the TOB philosophy of punishment that Winkles will miss the kick-off vs Directional State and will be considered absolved of all wrongdoing. Hope they did a steroid test as well.

No. You can assume that the UNC Board of Governors will thoroughly investigate this. Like the did the egregious academic fraud at UNC. Then, like at UNC, it will be swept under the rug.
"Pack Nation" will downplay it and continue to point the finger in the other direction.
Implying that none of your players have ever had a DUI.

A DWI is serious, and I hope he gets the message. Kids are kids, and I agree that this happens everywhere. All I hope is that he learns from this, and doesn't repeat. Far too many people are killed as a result of drinking and driving.
