NC State FB Winkles charged with DWI

Posted February 18, 2013

— NC State redshirt junior fullback Logan Winkles has been charged with driving while impaired according to Wake County court documents.

Winkles was also charged with driving while consuming alcohol by a person under 21 years of age. He will turn 21 in August.

His court date set has been set for March 25.

Winkles started four games in 2012 recording nine catches for 85 yards and two touchdowns. He played just 24 snaps at fullback in 2011 but saw considerable time on special teams.

A Thomaston, Ga. native, Winkles redshirted his first year in Raleigh after suffering a knee injury.

A DWI is serious, and I hope he gets the message. Kids are kids, and I agree that this happens everywhere. All I hope is that he learns from this, and doesn't repeat. Far too many people are killed as a result of drinking and driving.

I'm interested to see how Doeren handles this. Kid needs to be kicked off the team, for good.

Kids will be kids. Hate it for him. Probably just had a couple and blew the limit, which by the way, ain't much. The DWI laws were not made to protect, they were made to make money. Are there people that have had too much to drink and get behind the wheel? Of course. And for every one that deserves to be drug through the system and brow beat beyond recognition, there are 50 that don't. And yes I have had one. Over 20 years ago
