NC State officially announces signing of Freeman

Mark Gottfried made the signing of Oak Hill forward Lennard Freeman official Wednesday, marking the fifth big name recruit to join the Wolfpack for the 2013-14 season.
Freeman, a 6-foot-8, 235-pounder known for his rebounding and defense, verbally committed to NC State last week.
“We are very excited about adding Lennard,” Gottfried said in a statement. “He is the ultimate team player and wants to win. He is a player I feel can develop in our system. He has been well coached, and will be a great teammate as well.”
Freeman will already be comfortable with at least one other NC State newcomer. He and committed recruit BeeJay Anaya were AAU teammates and played together in last month’s Capital Classic All-Star Game.
NC State also has commitments from JUCO All-American guard Desmond Lee, McDonald’s All-American Anthony Barber and 6-foot-9 Kyle Washington who is listed as a 4-star recruit on Rivals.com.
The five-man class for NC State was paramount after Lorenzo Brown and CJ Leslie announced they would be leaving for the NBA, Rodney Purvis decided to transfer and Scott Wood and Richard Howell were lost to graduation. The only returning Wolfpack player that made more than two starts a year ago will be TJ Warren.
