NC State only one of Triangle schools to place players on All-ACC preseason football team

Posted July 19

Three players from North Carolina State University – one each on offense, defense and special teams – were named to the 2017 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Preseason Football Team as voted on by the media.

Defending national champion Clemson leads all schools with five selections.

State seniors Jaylen Samuels and Bradley Chubb were named to the offensive and defensive teams, respectively. Punter A.J. Cole III, a junior, got a special teams nod.

Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson of Louisville was chosen to repeat as ACC Player of the Year after a record-setting 2016 campaign in which he averaged 393.4 yards per game of total offense and accounted for 51 touchdowns, both ACC single-season records. His 132 votes led all players.

Samuels (124 votes) and Chubb (101 votes) also were among top vote getters.
