NC State QB Pete Thomas to transfer

Posted February 7

— North Carolina State University quarterback Pete Thomas will transfer in May following his graduation, head coach Dave Doeren announced Friday.

Thomas started six games for the Wolfpack in 2013, throwing for 1,667 yards and four touchdowns. It wasn't clear where he would transfer.

"Pete has been a great teammate and a very positive representative of N.C. State athletics,” Doeren said in a statement. “I have really enjoyed coaching him and want him to be successful as a player and in life. Going forward, I will do anything I can to help him through his transition as a transfer. He will be missed as a teammate, player and person in our locker room."

Thomas finished 2013 ranked ninth in the ACC in passing yardage per game, with a 185.2 mark, and in total offense with 203.3 yards per game.

Thomas, a native of El Cajon, Calif., started 21 games at Colorado State in 2010-11 before transferring to N.C. State.

“I want to thank Coach Doeren, my teammates and all the fans,” Thomas said. “I have great respect for this staff, and I believe they will turn this program around. I’m proud that I will earn my degree from such a great university.”

A good decision for Thomas IMHO.

Best of luck to him. Now, we all know what this means. In a few years, he'll lead an NFL team to a Super Bowl win, and NC State fans will claim the championship as their own.

No future for him here. He transferred in under coach O'Brien. Doesn't fit this offensive plan. Wouldn't play here again, unless inuries.

Another bitter UNC-CHeat fan. The difference is, Wilson was apart of the Wolfpack team from day 1...not a wanderer like Thomas who couldn't find a home in a program.

He played his entire undergrad career at NCSU and graduated from State...why wouldn't Wolfpack fans claim Wilson as their own?

if this guy ever makes it big in the NFL, local news will make sure to include 'former nc state QB pete Thomas...'

I do like Wilson regardless, but even more since UNC was his first choice of colleges.

Because he was drafted out of Wisconsin, set a single season record for qb rating at Wisconsin, had his most successful season at Wisconsin (11-3 and played in the Rose Bowl) and is listed as attending school at Wisconsin by both ESPN and the NFL.
