NC State QB Pete Thomas to transfer

Posted February 7, 2014

— North Carolina State University quarterback Pete Thomas will transfer in May following his graduation, head coach Dave Doeren announced Friday.

Thomas started six games for the Wolfpack in 2013, throwing for 1,667 yards and four touchdowns. It wasn't clear where he would transfer.

"Pete has been a great teammate and a very positive representative of N.C. State athletics,” Doeren said in a statement. “I have really enjoyed coaching him and want him to be successful as a player and in life. Going forward, I will do anything I can to help him through his transition as a transfer. He will be missed as a teammate, player and person in our locker room."

Thomas finished 2013 ranked ninth in the ACC in passing yardage per game, with a 185.2 mark, and in total offense with 203.3 yards per game.

Thomas, a native of El Cajon, Calif., started 21 games at Colorado State in 2010-11 before transferring to N.C. State.

“I want to thank Coach Doeren, my teammates and all the fans,” Thomas said. “I have great respect for this staff, and I believe they will turn this program around. I’m proud that I will earn my degree from such a great university.”

Man you're simple. He started over half of last season and really underperformed. He isn't cut out for Coach D's system.

The problem for State is that this is one of only many problems. Several positions we have players that should be performing at a higher level, which explains why he's transferring. If you're sitting the bench and the person starting at your position is underperforming, that has got to drive you crazy.

"Cam Newton started at Florida, played in a few games before transferring. Don't see many gator fans cheering for him..." LEWISKR45

Are you really that simple minded? Played a few games vs. played his entire undergraduate career, haha. I'm done here. Clearly you cannot put together a logical argument.

OK...so a kid is leaving NCSU probably because he knows he won't play much, kinda sounds familiar...it happens...if this would have been at UNC the Red Riding Hoods would be in a feeding frenzy...just sayin

Don't mind him. He sees UNC fans behind every tree, under every bed, and in every corner.

He transferred, just like Wilson. Sure there were different reasons behind the transfers, but they both saw better opportunities elsewhere.

The reason you don't see Gator fans claim Newton is that he had a little (big) problem while there and had to leave.
