NC State quarterback Manny Stocker to transfer

Posted November 27, 2013

NC State sophomore quarterback Manny Stocker plans to leave the program after this semester, his father told WRAL Wednesday.

Manny Stocker Sr said his son hopes to continue playing football but things didn’t work out at NC State after the coaching change from Tom O’Brien to Dave Doeren.

“In the beginning, he was told by the new staff that he would be competing for the job,” Stocker, Sr said. “But on the first day of summer camp, he got zero snaps. Coach Doeren wanted to redshirt Manny for him to develop but he didn’t even get many snaps on the scout team.”

The sophomore quarterback was more than willing to give up his redshirt season when Brandon Mitchell was injured in the first game.

“That wasn’t an option,” Manny Stocker Sr. explained. Four different quarterbacks have played for the Wolfpack this season. “We accepted the fact Manny didn’t get the position. But we don’t feel it was a fair process,” his father explained.

Stocker saw action in five games his freshman season, rushing for a season high 32 yards against Wake Forest.

Hope Stocker finds a home with a team that appreciates his talents. By all accounts, this season is a drop back, scramble and take a 15-yard sack. Good luck, Manny.

i dont blame him, with the pitiful qb play by Thomas and Mitchell(not to mention, he missed half the season), there is NO excuse for not giving Manny a shot....Doeren wanted him to develop??...Thomas is a junior who has started elsewhere, and he doesnt looked developed...Mitchell is a converted receiver, and he doesnt look developed....we didnt realize he couldnt pass till he came back from injury, and played a few games....you wouldnt let Manny play, and the qb's who did play had 5 td's and 15 int's?!?!..in 11 games?!?!..SMH

I don't know if he can play or not but he has a great name. It sounds like a player.

If he isn't any better than the others than good luck. If he ends up in the nfl good for him... Id say, as bad as our qb situation is, we don't have a very good one that fits dorens offense. Not really sure he would fit in period. I don't like where our team is now, but TOB players seem to lack skills.

    Maybe ECU?

If TOB players lacked skills...he must have been some kind of coach to win any games.

So Doeren lied to the kid....nice, he is better off jumping - that ship is on fire and there is not enough water in the ocean to put it out

Glennon's dad was right about NC State

8 straight losses, a couple of incredibly stupid 4th down calls, and now good players transferring. Doeren is already on the hot seat.

As bad as States QBs have been this year, looks like TOB jr would have let the water boy tryout for the position, couldn't done much worse
