North Carolina State sophomore forward Thomas de Thaey has decided to leave the Wolfpack basketball program head coach Mark Gottfried announced Monday.

DeThaey will return to Belgium to be with his father, who is ill, and pursue professional basketball opportunities.

“Thomas let our staff know Sunday that he felt it was important to return home to be with his family at this time,” Gottfried said. “I wish him the best.” More Info     N.C. State Logo More NCSU Stories

Hope he is back.

Wish the kid the best. The Ryan Harrow thing is more than Ryan being sick. I had a chance to talk to him when he decided on UK. Told him that CAL would be on him hard. Just suck it up and play hard. Sure enough. Cal called him out on ESPN All Access. Told him he lacked heart, and wasnt tough enough to be his point guard. Now Mays is the starter, and no Harrow sighting since.

Instant Karma. Fire O'Brien and the wheels will start to fall off the wagon.

Oh yeah, huge loss for the Pack. How can they replace a superstar like him. And to even mention TOB's firing in a bb story, congrats, you win for the most idio*tc post of the week so far.

Screen name. Nuff said.

Best wishes to TDT, his father, and his family.

RE: NC State's de Thaey leaving the program

Losing TDT hurts. If for nothing else, he could come in and spell for a few minutes.

I hate it for him. He's in a new country, and obvioiusly struggling to adapt. The guy's work ethic is ridiculous. He is a gym rat - he's always talking about getting his shots up. But for whatever reason it wasn't working for him here.

His dad was diagnosed with Cancer in the spring, and he went back homne for a time during after spring semester. That is a big part of this, but also too, he's been unhappy with regards to playkng time. So there are a number of things leading to his decision.

I appreciate his efforts, and I hope things work out for him and his dad.

We will miss #13 this year!

We all wish the best for him and his dad. It's got to be hard leaving home and living in another culture.

I didn't know his dad had cancer, I wish him well and I hope and pray his dad gets the best treatment available and beats his cancer.
