North Carolina State’s Richard Howell averaged a double-double in a pair of wins for the No. 14 Wolfpack last week and on Monday, was rewarded by being named the ACC Player of the Week.
In a 84-76 upset of then-No. 1 Duke, Howell poured in 16 points on 7-for-12 shooting and pulled down 18 rebounds – one shy of his career high. It was Howell’s 22nd double-double of his career and ninth this season.
Howell’s week started nearly as well as it ended as he filled the stat sheet in a win over Georgia Tech. On Wednesday he scored six points, grabbed 12 rebounds, dished two assists, blocked two shots and registered a steal.
NC State (14-2) is 3-0 in ACC play for the first time since the 1988-89 season and is currently riding a 10-game win streak.
Boston College freshman Olivier Hanlan was honored with the Rookie of the Week ager averaging 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3.5 steals in two conference road games.
