NC State selected as ACC baseball favorite

Posted January 25, 2013

— North Carolina State has been selected as the 2013 ACC baseball favorite in a vote by the league's head coaches, the conference announced Friday.

Six coaches picked the Wolfpack to win the league, four chose the North Carolina Tar Heels and Florida State and Virginia received one vote each.

With Florida State reaching the College World Series last season, the ACC has sent a total of 15 teams to Omaha since 2006. Seven ACC teams received NCAA Tournament bids in 2012, and at least five conference teams have been selected for postseason play in each of the past 11 seasons.

All 12 baseball teams open their seasons with non-conference games on Feb. 15.

The 2013 ACC Baseball Championship will be played May 22-26 at the Durham Bulls Athletic park in Durham.

Should be another great year for ACC baseball and here is to hoping the Pack makes a little noise as well! February cannot get here soon enough.

The Heels have had highly rated recruiting classes several years in a row. They have lost one or two to the draft each year, but they have also managed to do quite well every year except maybe one or two seasons out of the last 10 or so. I believe getting highly rated classes does mean something because not many of those kids who get drafted actually take the money.

well we have seen how well that projection has turned out for cowpattieUs wuffpuppies bball team.. I done told you peeps the team sucked before the season started and they will be lucky to get a NIT bid...the baseball team will suck too!!!

State was good last year. Will be this year. But UNC won the last 3 games against the Pack last year and returns pretty much of its guys and all the strong pitchers. Believe State did too, so should be fun.

    Go Heels!

If the past is any predictor, I wouldn't put too much stock in the current 'recruiting class' information. Don't forget there is also a major league baseball draft on the horizon and many of the MLB teams draft the same high schoolers as well. You really have to wait and see who really enrolls from the recruiting class lists and then see if they can maintain an academic eligibility as well. And then there is a possibility of a transfer if a player's is not satisfied with his situation.

    How many NTs?

I'm picking the Heels. And with this recruiting class things look good for years to come. Success breeds success.

    GO HEELS!!

like everything else, the Pack will have to earn their status, but you would have to be blind not to see the difference in recognition for NCSU athletics since Yow got in the mix
