NC State signs women's coach Moore to five-year deal

Posted April 20, 2013

— The North Carolina State University Board of Trustees on Friday approved a five-year contract for women's basketball coach Wes Moore.

The contract term runs through the 2017-18 season and would be automatically extended two years if the Wolfpack earns an NCAA tournament bid in either the 2013-14 or 2014-15 season. Moore’s annual salary is $260,000.

Moore spent the past 15 seasons as the head coach at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) where he led the Lady Mocs to 12 Southern Conference (SoCon) regular season titles, nine SoCon tournament championships, and nine NCAA Tournament berths, while becoming the winningest coach in UTC and SoCon history. He is the reigning SoCon Coach of the Year, an award he has earned on six separate occasions.

Moore has posted a 558-169 overall record in 24 seasons as a collegiate head coach. His .767 winning percentage puts him in the NCAA Top 10 among active Division I head coaches as well as among the all-time winningest coaches with 10 or more years of coaching experience at the Division I level.

He is the only coach in NCAA history to advance three different teams to the NCAA Tournament at the Division I, II, and III levels.

Coach Moore announced this week that he has completed his coaching staff with the hires of Associate Head Coach Nikki West, Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator Gene Hill, and Assistant Coach Lindsay Edmonds.
