NCSU's Turner, Austin named to All-America team

Posted June 11, 2014

— NC State baseball players Trea Turner and Brett Austin were named to the All-America team Wednesday as selected by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Baseball America.

Turner, a junior shortstop, and Austin, a junior outfielder, are both headed to the pros.

Turner was drafted 13th overall by the San Diego Padres and the Chicago White Sox took Austin in the fourth round.

Hans, I've noticed that all you ever do is try to diminish other's accomplishments. Maybe you should try Extenze.

Don't now how the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association listed Austin but on the draft info on the Baseball America website in the 4th round, Austin is listed as a CATCHER and also listed as receiving a $450,000 bonus from the White Sox. The WRAL article indicated Austin was an outfielder. As a NCSU STH I saw Brett play MORE games as a catcher this season than as an outfielder. Do you folks go out and ever watch the games?

I don't see Austin on the list as posted by the NCBWA.

Trea Turner, Brett Austin, Carlos Rodon and a total of 7 players drafted by MLB yet the Pack couldn't finish any better than 11th in the conference?

Ryan Williams of ECU was also selected.
