amile jefferson waiting?

RE: amile jefferson waiting?

Sub...give it a break man...everything I am hearing he is NOT a one and doner.....unless he gets lots of playing time wherever he goes and shows "potential" to the NBA....now for going to Duke, he has not even visited Duke, not that means a hill of beans....but if he was serious, why not take a look...if he doesn't come to the other 3...he goes to Villanova...Duke is getting some bad press lately

What does Amile being (or not being) a 1-and-done player have anything to do with where he will attend? I never said he was 1-and-done anyway. He's skin and bones, needs at least 2 years to add strength before he considers a jump to the NBA.

Also, Amile was in durham for the Duke/UNC game on an "unofficial" visit.

Thanks, though.

RE: amile jefferson waiting?

Not sure how connected this guy is, but figured it was relevant.

"Most BBN speculation has centered on Anthony Bennett and Alex Oriakhi. Amile Jefferson is out there, but he's seems to be relegated to stand-by status. NC State is hot on his trail and a commitment wouldn't surprise me."

Yeah, but anything from a Kentucky website is going to be adamantly anti-Duke.

See: Laettner, Christian.

I like the tag line at the end: Fear the Fade. I still think his daddy was JR Reid.

Noel is listed as a center because he's 6'10", but if you shave his head he'd only be 6'4".

Haha I just read the first paragraph of that blog and it reads like this (not to my surprise):

Nerlens Noel, Alex Poythress, Archie Goodwin, and Willie Cauley-Stein are signed, sealed, and being delivered to Big Blue Nation in a first-class box with a big 'ol blue and white bow. Obviously, FedEx will be used. I've sworn off UPS. Logistics THAT, Dook worshippers.

RE: amile jefferson waiting?

As we all talk about AJ, the signing period runs to May 16th...but the NBA cut date is April 29th...so I guess, unless something drastically changes, we won't know anything about CJL and AJ until 4/29...the suspense is getting to me...lol...the way I see it, his chances of going to Kent is as good as going to NC State...or Duke...Ohio St still could get him...but what scares me is, he could end up at Villinova...although Nova is losing a couple of starters, it is close to home for AJ...us State fans would love for him to come here, and I think his playing time just went up with Painter leaving...we were the last official visit he made and he has not visited Duke...

Yep. Hard as it is to wait, there's no compelling reason for either CJ or AJ to make up their minds before 4/29. Normally, we can stand to wait 16 more days, but there's nothing else going on!

What a crummy time of year if you're not a hockey fan.

It's been said that it wouldn't matter if Calvin announced he was coming back, because he could still throw his name in the NBA hat before April 29th. While that is technically true, if he was going to announce his return just to appease everyone while continuing to mull over this decision, he could have already done that by now and saved himself some hassle.

That tells me he is not going to announce anything (either way) until his decision is final, and I respect him for that.

Also, at this point, there are no more names coming out of the aforementioned NBA hat. There are only more names going into it. So if he is on the bubble for jumping now, it is only going to become more difficult for him to make the jump as time goes by. That Drummond from UConn just entered the draft. He's a likely top-5 pick. That only pushed Calvin down another notch toward the second round. As more names enter, he is only getting pushed down at worst, or holding his same position at best. Realistically, he's not going to climb in the draft projections.

So I like our chances at getting him back for another year.

That's a good analysis. But the flip side is, it seems to me, that if his stock is only going to get worse, not better, and he still hasn't announced, that suggests if it doesn't get any worse than it is today, then he still wants to go.

I have no doubt that he wants to go. Absolutely he does.

There are several reasons he might wait. One theory is the coaches asked him to wait while they recruit, or at least get free publicity from this. Or maybe CJL's inner circle can't agree on what he should do, and are still debating it. Who knows. Or maybe he's just going to wait until April 28th and decide then.

RE: amile jefferson waiting?

Amile is waiting to announce primarily because he can.
Calvin is waiting to announce primarily because he has to.

Kato_karma talks out of his behind primarily because he can't help himself. :)

Thanks for the update on the unofficial...didn't know....
I was not saying you said he was a 1 and done...I was just referring he is not a 1 and done....if he is thinking he is a 1 and done, I agree with you, he needws to build up, but no telling what these kids think about themselves, especially the huge build up they get from the school and AAU ball....what I meant about what school he goes to thinking he is a 1 and done is that he will need to get plenty of playing time to show gis abilities off....

RE: amile jefferson waiting?

True, agree with you there. Either way, hopefully we will see him in the ACC next year, helping 1 of us to beat UNC.

You might not like what State will do to your dukies next year. May not be so friendly when State and Carolina are beating up on that azz.
