over inflated stats. most of his passes were little shovel passes or short passes where jones would catch and put up big yards. jones put renners stats on his back and carried him. unc's offense is so predictable. its either going to be a run or a play to draw the defense in if they are trying to blitz and then hit an open jones in the middle about 5 to 10 yards away. renner hardly ever aired it out. when he did against state to the endzone, amerson was glad to show him who his daddy was.
unc's short pass play is what hurt state in chapel hill. we would bring the blitz with our linebackers so about 10 yards or less away, there would be an open reciever who would pick up big yards because no one was around him to tackle him. i think o'brien finally figured it out and made unc try to throw down field which resulted in zero points in raleigh. i admit its a nice little play and i use it a lot when i play college football or madden but after a while, people start to figure you out.
Seems like Amerson was UNC's best receiver last year in Raleigh.- Posted by tommybrownnc

Heck...he was State's best receiver (all year).
On a serious note, I wonder if Toby would consider using Amerson both ways...given the receiver situation over there.
yes, i would say that they have a good chance of scoring on NCSU this yr- Posted by kato_karma.01- Posted by daniel81ncWow...I didn't realize how much better Renner's in-conference number were last season in comparison to Glennon. http://www.cfbstats.com/2011/leader/821/player/split07/category02/sort02.html- Posted by kato_karma.01

Wow...I didn't realize how much better Renner's 15+ yard and 25+ yard completion stats were in comparison to Glennon (not to mention compiling more yardage with over 100 less attempts).

And to think what this elite QB might accomplish with Fed's wide-open offense this season and next.
GO HEELS!!!
