Pack winds up 20th in final poll

RE: Pack winds up 20th in final poll

The emotions and feelings of the NCSU fans at the half-time of the Maryland were quite real and justified.
Had those last 7 minutes turned out differently, a firing of TOB would not have been met with much resistance from the same fans.
A mere 4 quarters later and a win against the same team that (lowly) UNC defeated earlier in the season (by the same margin) boils down to what people want to believe.
Can't blame some for wanting so badly.

Riddle me this, then - what was the result?

Not what YOU think the result WOULD HAVE BEEN "had those last 7 minutes turned out differently", but the ACTUAL result - you know, how did things end up, in REALITY?

Let me help you out there, katocujopeepee. NC State BEAT Maryland - FACT. NC State finished with a 7-5 regular season record - FACT. NC State won their bowl game that they EARNED over the course of the regular season - FACT.

Your insistence on perpetuating a peeing match with Scotty can't and won't change those FACTS. Sorry if your buns are chapped, hoss, but State beat UNC head-up (again), wound up with a better record, won their bowl game, and did it all without committing nine different NCAA violations and winding up on probation. Deal with it as best you can.

Kind of seems like your M.O. - if you can't win, then you endlessly talk tripe about what almost happened or what will happen in the future, when what almost happened didn't and what will happen hasn't. Seeming rather than being. Rather becoming.

Dear Mr. Sensitive (aka, lmart),

A nerve has obviously been struck. A couple of (admitted rhetorical) questions...

- Given NCSU's pathetic basketball record for over the past 22 seasons (conference finishes: 3rd, 7th, 8th, 9th, 8th, 9th, 8th, 8th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 3rd, 4th, 2nd, 6th, 4th, 10th, 11th, 10th, 9th, 10th, 4th / conference record 134-216), does that prevent wolffies from commenting on UNC's recent performances like losses to UNLV, KY, FSU, dook, etc. this season?

- Given dooks pathetic football record since, well, Spurrier left town, does that prevent dookies from commenting on UNC's performances like losses to NCSU and Missouri?

I am on record acknowledging that UNC football has been, at best, mediocre since the Mack Brown era. That said, just because NCSU is on a current 5-game win streak over the Heels (noting that UNC recorded a 7-game win streak not too long ago), does not equate to Pack football being anything other than mediocre...unless the measuring stick for NCSU football success is solely based on beating UNC (which is obviously the case with some wolffies).

Sincerely,

kato

Dear kato (AKA Dr. Snark),

My point, which you so clearly missed, was just this: State beat Maryland in football in 2011. Period. The historical record will only reflect THAT. It matters not that State figuratively pulled it out of their collective azz, there's no asterisk attached to it, and I'm willing to bet that victory won't later have to be vacated (did I hit a nerve? Bet I did. I'm tap dancing on that mofo right now.). 7 minutes, 7 minutes, CAW! 7 minutes! You sound like a parrot on speed.

Waaaaah! Waaaaah! Those mean ol Wuffies made fun of my top-ranked Tarheels for losing a game, so I'll just - I'll - I'll bring up 22 years of mediocrity. Yeah, that'll show 'em.

Know what it shows me? The average UNC fan not only is thinner-skinned than any State fan possibly could be, but he also hasn't changed a bit in the last 35 years: when they win, you can't shut em up, when they lose you can't find em.

You got me wrong - I'm not sensitive at all. I'm just sick and tired of you self-righteous, sanctimonious a-holes thinking you're the only ones who have a right to be proud of a thing, dumping all over anything and everything connected to NC State, and acting like you've got the right and authority to tell others how to act.

Sincerely,

Marty

In football, the entire ACC is mediocre. Sorry, it is the truth.
As far as basketball, let's hope State's momentum carries over to next season. If Leslie returns then they have a shot at a deep run in the tourney and I would predict them at least making the elite 8.
If he does not return, they still make the tourney but will not go as far. Gott has really turned him around and I think one more year to mature and he becomes a high first round draft choice.

Much more in line with reasonable, level-headed discourse. Don't disagree with a thing posted by K-ectomy.

LOL.
Red Ragers.
When they lose, you can't shut them up.
And when they lose some more, you can't shut them up.

RE: Pack winds up 20th in final poll

Ah, yes. There IS another go-to phrase. "Red Rage".

The response usually given when one of the flock is responded to in kind, thereby depriving it of its God-given right to both be a know-it-all blowhard and to have the last word.

Taking his ball and going home in 3, 2, 1 .....

RE: Pack winds up 20th in final poll

Ah, yes. There IS another go-to phrase. "Red Rage".

LOL.
And let's not omit "The Most Self-Destructive Fan Base in the State".
(example: halftime of the State-Maryland game)
Word.

You are SERIOUSLY fixated on that State-Maryland game, aren't you?

And so concerned about some over-zealous intoxicated State fans too?

Quite the humanitarian.

Curious - what was so "destructive" about State fans at halftime of that game? Were they lighting things on fire? Flipping over cars? Shooting people? You may want to look more toward Lexington, KY; or, better yet, review some news reports from Franklin Street from 2005. Tough to look in the mirror before pointing fingers, isn't it?
