New info on CJ Leslie

RE: New info on CJ Leslie

The hurry up offense can be intimidating, but so far nobody has figured out how to play a hurry up defense

so, hurry up offenses are never stopped???

c'mon now :)
- Posted by wolfpackindahouseV.3

Not defense against a hurry up offense. A defense that plays faster than the offense wants to play. If you can figure out how to pull that off, you'll be rich, and can start your own smack talk forum. :)

RE: New info on CJ Leslie

I think alot of folks got the WRONG impression about Calvin leslie for one he did very well in School and on his SAT's, he's very smart, I think the problem he had was when he went to Word of God which is a good Church and school but some and not all of the folks their put him on a pedestal and I think that first year at STATE when things didn't work out well the fans got down on him alittle and he didn't know how to handle it and the lack of focus showed, he's never been a thicked headed kid the CJ I know is very laid back and smoove type guy, folks I'm here to tell you he's a really good person as well as a very academic person it's so funny how some people talk about this guy like he's troubled or like he struggles to make good grade....I bet half of you didn't even know he finished his high school requirments early for his Diploma.

Calvin missed games in middle school and as a freshman at Holly Springs High due to reasons other than injury/sickness (will leave it at that). That said, he is a genuinely good person -- easily liked but easily misunderstood - whose biggest flaw may be he puts his trust in others too quickly. Hoping the best for the young man (and his very supportive family), whether he jumps now or sticks around.

RE: New info on CJ Leslie

Interesting article on assessing the relative value of an NBA draft pick. A bit dated, but does present some interesting points (including mine that perhaps the risk vs reward between say #20 and #30 might be not be as significant as some would think). Have at it Ken D ;-)...

The difference between 20 and 30 may not be that much. But the difference between top-10 and 30 is pretty big. I contend this draft is more "crowded" than usual due to the NBA lockout last year. That kept players in school another year that would have otherwise turned pro early. Those players are coming out right now. So we have an extra crowded draft this year. Next year should be less crowded than this year. Combine that with Calvin having a strong year in 2012-13, and he's potentially a top-10 pick.

If Calvin were to stay, me thinks the possibilities are greater that he gets in academic or other trouble and loses ground than they are for him to be a top 10 pick. Don't get me wrong -- I hope the best for him and his family -- I just don't think he has it in him to stay as focused as he will need to for another 12 months. Add to that the possibility that his numbers may drop due to the improvement and/or addition of others (focus factor lessens).

That may be true, but it is pure speculation on your part.

I think we'll know more in the next 24 hours, though. The rumors I'm hearing is that he's most likely staying in school.

who would have thought charges would be brought on zimmerman before cj could make up his mind? 4/10 has passed. Is he having his palm read? still makes no sense leaving your school, teammates, coach, and fans swinging in the breeze. Henson, Marshall,Barnes and even Plumlee seem to be more loyal. so much for that 24 hr. thing.

How do you know he hasn't already informed his coaches and teammates of his decision? And past them, who else really needs to know? It's his decision, he can announce it to the public when he wants to.

RE: New info on CJ Leslie

^^^no argument there. it certainly is within his right to wait til 11:59pm if he wants. Funny thing, and don't fall out of your chair...I kinda feel sorry for state fans. You guys have a shot to really do something next yr. and cj could be a big part of it if he wants. I just know what hell it is to be in limbo. When we lost our guys,(and I've witnessed more talent leaving Carolina, than fans of any program, and I'm talking about star talent that could have brought more NCs to the school),it felt good just to be clear about what to expect. I also appreciated mcadoo not leaving us hanging, no matter what TBK says, he is coming back. I'm sure duke fans are happy to know about mason, even though his h.s. coach disagrees, and makes a good argument. One thing I've noticed from the enemy camp is that cj is one hell of a talented bball player. He has the athleticism, energy, creativity and will to win to possibly be the ACC player of the year. I noticed, sometimes he has a hard time channeling that. He fouls when he should let it go and he trys to cover for breakdowns. Admirable but you better be smart about it becuz you will be out of position. He doesn't always make good decisions.(thanks AAU ball). That is one reason I think he should come back. To Mature. He will adapt to the pro game, and,I expect him to have a decent career. One thing I notice is he forgets about his teammates, and looks like he has a hard time trusting them. My suggestion? If you want that to improve, and, you plan to come back, let your teammates know. I guess otherwise, it doesn't matter. Get used to airports.

. A defense that plays faster than the offense wants to play

that's pretty much what any "blitz happy defense" does... Jon Tenuta is good at making offenses make their decisions much quicker than they'd like to, by bringing an array of blitz packages.... in essence, making the offense play quicker than they'd like.

you can be my first poster on the new "SAC Smack Talk Board" :)

If you are looking for an Avatar bet Hokie, "I'm your Huckleberry".
- Posted by Total Recall
Ah. "Tombstone." Val Kilmer stated this to the uneduated when he took out the guy to finish Wyatt Earp. What was his name?

No one on here is my" Huckleberry" Total Recall. I like my avatar from VT. Love the Hokies through the thick and thin. Our basketball team isn't much to talk about. But. VT has owns more ACC Crowns than anyone to date in football lately.

WF will upset UNC. I'm glad that you used some creativity in this one. Ol Val Kilmer is proud. Numbers don't mean a heckeva lot until there is some substance. This is to you.

There is a person on here that isn't a UNC grad, but heckeva fan, She(he) writes more stuff about basketball, football, and all things petaining to UNC than any Graduate of UNC. She has loads of fans and people that respond. Still. Some of us can read through this too. Maybe a New Yorker. Go Hokies. I hope that some will read this one. No harm nor foul. I'm just tired to reading so many from a few that claim to know everything on here. Go UNC. Go Hokies.

Actually Hokie, Doc Holiday said it to Johnny Ringo when he was drunk in the street, and then when he met him at the Big Oak by the creek. Johnny Ringo was "an educated man" and spoke fluent Latin. I'm only thinking a one week bet on the Avatar. Can't have you compromising your standards for too long in here. You never know where 'ghostly spirits' of 'deceased rams' are hiding to take advantage of an Avatar bet. Have I ever mentioned Logan Thomas is a heck of a football player?

Oh, "I'm your Huckelberry" means "I'm the man for the job" or "I'm a sporting fellow" from what I've read.

I always thought it had to do with Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer but i saw this and it sounds plausible:

All these responses are silly assumptions!
In the movie he didn't say "I'm your huckleberry", he said "I'm your HUCKLEBEARER". His accent in the movie makes it hard to hear. In the 1800's little handles on a coffin were called "huckles", an English term. Instead of pallbearers the people who carried the coffin were called "hucklebearers" at the funeral.
This is why the other guy got so bent outta shape when Doc said "I'm your hucklebearer". He was telling the other guy "I'm your pallbearer" or literally I'm causing your funeral. This is why it was so offensive and the shooting started.

I got mine from the urban dictionary. Huck would do whatever Tom told him to do, so "I'm your Huckleberry" means "I'm game, let's do it.".

However, I like yours better. Gotta lock that one up. Coffin smack is brutal.

LOL -- this dolt actually thinks that defense can dictate when the offense snaps the ball (play faster). Then again, this is the same idyot that said:

"typically Monday is the only day I'm on here for any length of time"...you can read where I quickly ammended my statement to include "during business hours"... as in typically Monday is the only day I post DURING business hours, which brings us back to MY ORIGINAL post, because I followed "DURING BUSINESS HOURS" with "for any length of time"...

RE: New info on CJ Leslie

^^^LOL, this dolt thinks that making the offense "Snap the ball faster" is actually "speeding them up".... LMBAO!!

also, where did you read anything remotely close to that (the defense can make the offense snap the ball faster) being written by me??? you poor, poor, blathering dolt.

Then again, this is the same idiot that thinks 8:30 am (or as in now- PM) is "during normal business hours" and that has demonstrated more than a dozen or so times that it also can't grasp the meaning of "for any length of time".

so, no one should be surprised by its overt INability to comprehend what it reads.

poor thing.

RE: New info on CJ Leslie

Leslie is the best athlete in the ACC. Only this past season was he able to harness his gift and turn it into a basketball force. Credit good coaching and hard work by Leslie. He is on an upward trajectory and another year in college with the coaches that have gotten through to him will improve his game and possibly his fortunes to the tune of millions.

I had to come back on this one again Zen. Hope that the little one is doing well. If you think that CJ is the best in the ACC, then you need to listen a tad more to your wife. He only slowed up in the 2nd half of the ACC.

If you can write that Leslie is the best; then I or others should recommend that you read more. He's no more of a 1st Rounder than I can fly right now. He projected to be 2nd rounder. TBK has hyped this one--for sure. Still TBK has at least one person that is inside NC State. He gets the info. Obviously. Leslie made the right move in coming back. I read and even sometimes I learn a little on here. But. Not a heckeva lot.
