Damontre Harris? No discussion here in the Den!?

RE: Damontre Harris? No discussion here in the Den!?

Hans, please, just please, shut up!

RE: Damontre Harris? No discussion here in the Den!?

The reports are that Harris will be released by USC to play anywhere EXCEPT at NC State. These reports further discuss the possible interference by NCSU coaching staff in trying to bring Harris to State.

This is being covered on various sites, has appeared on at least on Pack related site. Any of you guys know anything about this? Those with close family ties or whatever? Or are you mostly holding your breath and hoping this goes away?

Easy answer to this one. NC state is the undisputed cheat king of the ACC.
- Posted by Jacob Summ3rs

The NCAA disputes it. Florida State holds that lead.

However, the ACC no longer has a king. A triumvirate now reigns.

RE: Damontre Harris? No discussion here in the Den!?

Allowing Martin to deny Harris a release to NC State is akin to allowing a citizen to charge someone with reckless driving because they got cut off on the highway.

"I’ve always liked Martin as a coach. I’ve admired the way that he runs his program, but that was because he always seemed to have his player’s best interests at heart.

I guess that is only the case when they want to play for him."

Lol, now that is so funny, I really needed a good laugh today. Cheat king? Let me see, 9 major violations, accused of academic fraud, pro agent, on staff, worst NCAA violations in the history of the state of NC, players kick-off of team, post-season ban, loss of scholarships, wonder what school that was, definitely not NC State. Doesn't get much worse than that, and that answers who the cheat king is. I really hope you are not a UNC fan, because that would make you look really bad calling another school cheats. Lol, lol, lol, lol, lol, lol, lol, lol, lol.

RE: Damontre Harris? No discussion here in the Den!?

Here is an interview with his high school coach. No question that there was contact by State assistant (former SC assistant) with Damontre, no question that State contacted his high school coach. The question is whether any of that reached the level of "tampering". I suppose we would have to see all the phone records to be absolutely sure there's no coverup. ;)

In your same line of thought - also, no question that other college coaches (Kansas, Texas, Virginia, VT, Clemson) contacted his high school coach.

But, the high school coach's most interesting comment was "There's some bad blood between Orlando Early and the athletic dept at South Carolina. It's not Frank Martin. It's Eric Hyman, the athletic director...."(1973 UNC grad who experienced the birth of the Thompson era.)

RE: Damontre Harris? No discussion here in the Den!?

According to his high school coach and his mother, no contact was made by NC State. So why the condition by Martin? She also said that Martin didn't even contact Damontre nor the family when he got the job, although he had stated in an article at the time of his hiring that he intended to do so with all current players and family.

The mother's statement was in the Daily Game Newspaper.

Like I said before, I don't much care for Coach Martin!

Its not Martin, its the AD at USC. There is bad blood between Early and USC over his leaving USC and trying to recruit players that USC wanted and the AD is holding a grudge. But just goes to show how d**b Martin and the AD at USC really are. If I were involved with USC and had a player that was going to transfer, I do think common sense would dictate that I had rather him go to a school like NCSU than to a school like Florida or Kentucky in the same conference. I'm sure Early as well as other former USC coaches have talked to Harris over the past year, not uncommon at all, but it doesn't mean he violated any rules. If he did violate rules that will be the end of his coaching career at NCSU. I would hate to see that because he is a important part of the coaching staff. However at this point I have to believe what the people that actually had conversations with Early have said, he absolutely did not interfer, I guess only time and an investigation will tell.

RE: Damontre Harris? No discussion here in the Den!?

Badger, you should remember I was never fond of Butch, not from the day he was hired.

And you obviously saw my smiling wink.

That said, I have no clue yet if pulling on this thread causes anything to unravel or not. My guess is there is something,

I gave you a smiling wink back, man. :)

I was just making a point that there is probably a lot more to Butch's phone records than anyone will find in our basketball coach's phones, and that if it would bring Butch's to light, we would GLADLY let you see ours. :)

I smile because I would love for that to happen. :)

yep when someone associated with Carolina's deal denies it...you assume they are lying and call for records...of course his high school coach's denial is gospel. right? says so in the Bible of Hypocrisy. Now. Gonna start a movement to get to the bottom of things, continue to call for the worse punishments without definitive proof, and, after many get shellacked for nothing, continue to disparage the program for cheating? Remember that "pattern" thinking...hmmm...cj takes benefits, still on the team. player caught endangering lives by doing a 100mph, prob stoned, and you defend him. hmmm, now inside recruiting taking place that P*sses off his current coach. No scandals right? quick, run to the Bible to give out the holy excuses and rationalizations. Cue it up gentlemen.

Well one of the biggest thing is the fact that his high school coach does denies it. That coach does not have any ties with NCSU or any reason to lie for NCSU. To compare Leslie's violations or Green's violations to UNC's is a real joke. First, Leslie's violations were minor infractions and Green's actually were not NCAA violations, where UNC's violations were major violations. UNC fans have their school cught with one of the worst scandels in ACC history and they reach for straws, trying to compare a couple of minor violations to a program wide scandel. Leslie was punished for his violations in accordance with NCAA standards and Green is being punished as well, but at no time did NCSU deny or try to cover up the violations, that is one of the biggest differences. UNC did deny and tried to cover it up instead of co-operating with the NCAA at first. Who was the UNC player that plagerized the paper? That is more in line with Leslie's violations, one individual player commiting a violation instead of a whole program. Eventhough I'll argue that using a car or having a cousin recieve money does not compare to cheating on a school paper. I don't ever remember a case of a State athlete cheating on classwork, might have happened but don't remember it. So never mind the major violations committed by the UNC football program, to me the cheating on classwork is worse than agents on staff or the other violations. Academic fraud is the worst violation that there is. And yes, the UNC player was punished accordingly. That was just one comparison as to grasping for straws. But the main thing is that nobody has introduced any proof that Early tampered, witnesses say that he didn't, and NCSU has taken responsibility and come forth honestly with all investigations against the school, one the other hand, you can say the completely opposite for UNC. But I'm sure if you go back years or decades ago you can probably find denial by both schools.

RE: Damontre Harris? No discussion here in the Den!?

The kid is fighting this, too. It appears he really wants to come to State. But these days, who doesn't!

GO PACK!!!

If this is the same kid that use to play at Mt. Zion then he has wanted to come to state before. He and Joseph Uchebo were both very interested in State when they were freshmen or Sophmores. Joseph Uchebo even verbably commited but later decommitted around the time Lowe left. I think Joe wanted to play in a smaller env while allowing himself more adjusting time. Damontre is a very good athlete. I did not realize that he had gone to SC.

RE: Damontre Harris? No discussion here in the Den!?

^^^^correct.

the mentally challenged one you're addressing is making a WILD ASSUMPTION, that because PARAPHERNALIA with a "trace" of marijuana on it were found in one's possession, that AUTOMATICALLY means that person drives while stoned.

LMBAO!!!

based on this mental midget's "logic", every person that owns a gun (by virtue of the black market) will eventually, "probably" use it to kill someone.

LMBAO!!

how embarrassing for it.

You are correct. But the biggest issue that he is not addressing is that State took actions themselves instead of waiting for the NCAA to come after them. As of right now he is suspended from all practices with the team, that might be temp. or permanent depending on the outcome of charges against him. As far as Leslie, State self-reported the violations to the NCAA, again instead of waiting for the NCAA to come after them. And Leslie was punished by State according to NCAA guidelines. Because their program got caught for some major violations, some UNC fans try to make minor violations of another school a major issue. But like I said, in both cases State self-reported to the NCAA, co-operated with the NCAA and State imposed punishment before the NCAA even started an investigation. In UNC's case, they did not self-report anything until the NCAA already informed UNC that they were under investigation, they did not co-operate with the NCAA investigation in the beginning, and they did not impose any punishment until after they were informed by the NCAA that they were under investigation. All these facts are easy to check. Like I said, some UNC fans want to try and make major issues out of minor ones to tell themselves that State are bigger cheaters than their school is, but the facts are that State has shown integrity and done the right thing when an issue has come up and UNC hasn't. If it makes them feel better, they can try and spin it anyway they want to, it really doesn't matter because State fans and everybody else has seen the difference in the way the two schools handles things. The integrity of the two programs is shown by the way they handle the issues, there is not one thing that shows that State did not act with integrity and honesty in their investigations, while you sure can't say the same about UNC. It is what it is and 10,000 posts from UNC fans will not change it.

Radical concept.
If you use "like I said" a few times, it makes things true.
