New low? I'm sorry Jimmy V had cancer...doesn't change the fact that he ran a dirty program. NC State didn't just decide to nuke its basketball program for 20 years for no reason.

You have zero understanding of what happened with V. Zero. The UNC - lead BOG is what sent our program into a death spiral - NOT the NCAA, and lastly not Jimmy V. There was a letter written to V from the lead investigator commending Jimmy on a stellar program he'd be proud to send his own son to. Did some players screw up and sell some shoes and some tickets - yes; but your miscategorization of Jimmy V is weak and tired.

hey tb. if greene was just busted for weed. so what? leave that for the coach, school, etc. to decide. No potential harm to anyone. Driving on the public road with his recklessness...I would want him in jail no matter if he played for Carolina. Given the continual trashing of butch, when nothing was proven, and the trashing of our players over the past yr, is what I'm responding to. The fact that some of your fans(tbk), minimize his behaviour is indefensible. Yet, no one,including reasonable state fans, has come out to say he should be kicked off the team. You don't see the complete hypocrisy? I have a 16 y/o driver out there and I know how vulnerable an inexperienced driver is. To justify anything about this behaviour reeks. I think of all the parents at the graveyard visiting their teenager's or family grave due to some individual who was drunk, stoned, speeding, whatever. that's all. I'm not God. I accept that we never know really what's going on with anyone. However, this is behaviour that warrants outrage, but none has appeared from the wolfpack fans. You've read the posts. You know there was, and is, moral outrage from state fans over our football teams' past. Priorities seem really twisted to me.

Yeah, Didion brought light to a colleague who was trying to cut Washington a deal. Leave it to a UNC fan to call that stabbing someone in the back. Guess you don't like it when the "good ole' boy" network gets exposed, even if it involves the NCAA. That's rich!

And the thing with Auburn, you said it yourself - "suspected" mole. Boy, you sure like to bend things to fit your agenda - dime to donuts you are a lawyer. Interestingly, Dave Didion and Rick Neuhisel had a "good ole' boy" relationship...

Whenever Neuheisel went to Indianapolis for the NFL scouting combine, he and Dave Didion, one of two men in charge of NCAA enforcement, would go to lunch. NCAA staff members even invited Neuheisel to their pickup basketball game on his next trip. Only Neuheisel can schmooze the same NCAA investigators who were trying to ruin his career. "Those relationships ended up being my saving grace," Neuheisel said.

That said, Dave was miffed at not being included in the Auburn "fraternity" when he was a staffer there and decided to instill a little payback years later after gaining a position with NCAA compliance.

Please excuse the handwriting but I want this to be personal and not something off a typewriter or a computer. If you have trouble reading this, I apologize, but it is the best I can do. I am writing because I have become very fond of you throughout the course of the investigation. I guess we are not good friends, but as friendly as we can become through meeting under these circumstances. When I was first assigned this case I had no idea what you were all about. I had some knowledge of you from your TV appearances and I suspected I might encounter some smart-@#%$ egomaniac who would try to bull**** me. Those impressions vanished after I met you and spent some time around you just listening to your philosophy about basketball, academics, life, and other things we touched on.

I consider myself a fairly good judge of character after the experiences I have had here, and I have come to believe that you are one of the best people I have met in intercollegiate athletics and one of the best people I have met period. I do know the pressures you operate under, I do not know how your family has been affected by these proceedings, and I guess I canÃ¢ï¿½ï¿½t know how you feel about your status at N.C. State because I donÃ¢ï¿½ï¿½t walk in your shoes and finally, I know you are not stupid or crazy and will make decisions based on your good judgement. Anyway, what all this leads up to is what I told you before in your office: you're good for intercollegiate athletics, good for N.C. State and good for the NCAA. I hope you stay at N.C. State and continue to do as youÃ¢ï¿½ï¿½ve always done and not change anything about your methods or your personality. If I had a son, I would feel comfortable with you as his coach and encourage him to learn from you.

So anyway, for what it's worth, if you are thinking about leaving N.C. State, please make that decision based on sound reasons(I know you will) and not because of some outside influence or a whim.

The double standard is this: if something goes wrong at State, it's part of the culture; if something goes wrong at UNC, it's due to "rogue" coaches, players, etc. The academics for NCSU basketball players during the Valvano years were embarrassing, but the African-American studies program at UNC beats anything I've ever seen.

Agreed. What's really funny is watching all the UNC fans twisting in the wind now, grasping at straws trying to get the heat off their program, which has been exposed as the cheaters they always have been.
The fans don't know how to act, because a lot of them really did buy into that "Carolina Way" farce, and they are the ones who have been taunting State fans and other school's fans all these decades, claiming they were above any NCAA problems.

Now that it's been proven they are not, and never were, they don't know how to act. Some of them want to say "everyone does it", but that doesn't work, because they've been claiming for years that they didn't.
Some want to point out State's past NCAA troubles, but that doesn't work very well, either, because that was over 20 years ago, and State has had no issues since.

They really and truly are lost. And it's totally priceless to those of us who have had to listen to and live with that air of superiority all these year.

He was lucky. that's all. Ask the Highway Patrol if being intoxicated(highly likely), and speeding 32 miles over the limit, almost to a hundred mph ,puts anyone at risk eediot. The newspaper could have easily said "RUNNING BACK AT STATE KILLED IN MULTIPLE CAR ACCIDENT THAT CLAIMED LIVES". Like I said, find a heart tinman.
